Anagram: Slapping Idiots??/Is Pops Dilating??

That wasn’t the initial anagram I was gonna go with for “slapping Idiots”.  Dialing Pisspot was the first Option, but I didn’t want a million people finding me looking for Either Dialing or Pisspot, seeing how this post is about neither.    Mind you Pops dilating might get some odd ones as well… No worries tho.  🙂

       On to Politics.

It seems that Sarah Palin, once the subject of sharp criticism and barbs, has become a non-person as far as the Democratic party is concerned.  Barack Obama has pretty much dropped the thought of attacking her completely, focusing instead on John McCain and the message that McCain is Out of touch.

THAT’S what I’m talking about.  If you want to hit the Republicans, hit them where they are strongest, their leadership and their leaders, Those being George Bush and John McCain.  Think about it.  Why the hell would you WANT to attack the number two, leaving the number one person on the ticket free to do as he wishes?  Palin has the chance to be Number 2, not number one, focusing all this attention on her has helped obfuscate the issue here, which is that John McCain is BAD FOR AMERICA.  The best she will be able to do is break ties in the senate.  That’s what V.P.’S do.  Have you seen any real vitriol against Joe Biden? The man brought strength and leadership to the table that the republicans said Obama didn’t have.  Why no MAJOR attacks on him? Because, he’s their number 2!  You don’t expend your best on number 2! That just won’t work, and it’s good to see that The Dems have finally figured it out.

Oh, not to mention every time they mention her, the Republicans attack the Dems, saying there sexist or some such bullshit.  Now, I don’t mind fighting the Republicans, but it makes no sense to fight them WHEN AND HOW THEY CHOOSE.  That is a great way to lose the battle against them.  The Democratic leadership needs to Dictate the pace of this battle, and the best way to do that is to Take it to John McCain.

Palin is a distraction.  Why do you think they chose her? She has a lot to distract with.  And I don’t mean her sagging tits either.  Her record is horrible, she’s an idiot who doesn’t know her ass from her elbow.  She’ll shoot herself in the foot eventually.  Actually she began that process already.  The Gibson Interview was wonderful, it showed her in her true light. As the ultimate lightweight. She hasn’t met a talking point she doesn’t like.  As far as Palin goes, I have but one more word to say about her here.

       ENOUGH!

Why, oh Why, my people, is this happening?  The FBI is getting a great deal more latitude in dealing with internal threats with new rules that are being put in place.  Quoting the Los Angeles Times story:

The Justice Department is finalizing rules that would allow FBI agents to solicit informants and use other new techniques to bolster the agency’s intelligence-gathering operation in the United States, officials said Friday.

The changes would expand rules the department enacted after the Sept. 11 attacks that permitted the FBI to conduct “assessments” of threats of terrorism and espionage even in instances where little or no proof existed of criminal activity.

Now tell me again why the republicans are leading in the polls, when they can Legislate this Kinda shit into action? Yes….I understand there are democrats that had a hand in it as well, but the vast majority DON’T aid and abet the republicans, and no one who calls himself a Democrat wants to see our freedoms crushed like this.

oh wait…the really Juicy quote here, The real MEAT of why this is wrong is that they can and will investigate based on race and ethnicity.

Yep, you got that right. Brian Roehrkasse says that it simply “not responsible to say that race may never be taken into account when conducting an investigation”

Oof.  A Dubya appointee giving Carte Blanche to go after Brown people.  Directly from the JUSTICE department.  We HAVE to go after terrorists. We HAVE to kill them.  Wish Dubya would go after Bin Laden.  But he won’t.  Republicans LOVE terrorists, they scare the electorate into voting for Republicans.  Back to the point though, that doesn’t mean we should set it up where we can go after our OWN PEOPLE if the government wants to.  THAT’S BULLSHIT!!

My last Video for awhile starring Sarah Palin.  let’s play spot the Bullshit…Oh wait, the whole answer she gives is bullshit:

That’s it for me!  Later!

Today’s Nuggets, from Woodrow Wilson, Via Wikiquote: Most men are individuals no longer so far as their business, its activities, or its moralities are concerned. They are not units but fractions; with their individuality and independence of choice in matters of business they have lost all their individual choice within the field of morals.

No country can afford to have its prosperity originated by a small controlling class. The treasury of America lies in those ambitions, those energies, that cannot be restricted to a special favored class. It depends upon the inventions of unknown men, upon the originations of unknown men, upon the ambitions of unknown men. Every country is renewed out of the ranks of the unknown, not out of the ranks of those already famous and powerful and in control.

Today ladies and Gentlemen we are going to separate the wheat from the chaff.  Let’s beat the chaff out of Sarah Palin:

She has her talking points down, doesn’t she?  It was a beautiful obfuscation on her part here.  She said absolutely nothing and she said it brilliantly.   Gonna start near the end of the video first.  I’m just like that.

      Gibson’s Question:

“Was that a yes, that we have the right to go across the border, with or without the approval of the Pakistani government, to go after terrorists in the waziristan area?”

  Palin’s Answer

“I believe America has to exercise all her options in order to stop the terrorists”

Well First off…DUH!!!! Was that ever a question? No!  And the best part about this one is, He asked her a simple one word yes or no question.  Now in her defense, I have to say that it is a veiled yes. But he wanted the veil off and she was unwilling to state a simple policy position for all the world to see, and rather than stick her neck out and show that she had real strength, she chose instead to follow talking points and not deviate from what she was coached to say. You could almost see strings moving the Palin puppet when she spoke.

Oh, and if you watch the entire thing, you get one thing.  She doesn’t know what the Bush Doctrine is.  Maybe she would have been better off using “The Google” and finding out what it was before she went on air.   Dummy.

Let’s now go to the beginning of this particular Video.   NUCLEAR: IT’S PRONOUNCED “NEW CLEAR’, NOT “NEW CYUH LER”.  If you are going to speak English, speak it correctly, kthxbye.

Second.  She’s not concerned that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad will use Nukes, but is concerned he’ll give them to terrorists?  WTF??? Now I can understand extreme concern about Terrorists getting nukes, understandable and it MUST be avoided at all costs, obviously. DUH.  BUT, This man has spoken about wanting to wipe Israel off of the face of the Earth, and you’re more concerned with Him giving the Bomb to terrorist organizations than with NUCLEAR war with Israel????  But Wait! There’s More!

And the “Can’t Second guess Israel” thing is bullshit.  Bush Senior, During the first Iraq war, begged Israel not to enter the fight, and they complied, though I am sure they were sorely aggrieved by the Missile strikes in Tel Aviv (I vaguely remember Tel Aviv getting hit by at least 2 scuds, I could be wrong about the city, but more than that fell On Israel) and other cities.  That was more than second guessing them.  They WANTED to Strike Iraq.  We did more than second guess them. We STOPPED them, in order to save the coalition.

The Iraqis Bombed them, and they didn’t respond because we asked them not to.  In case of a MAJOR Threat to Israel, we have to have some kind of say, and have in the past over what happens there, Using this one event as an example.  There are examples of Israel going over the border and dropping bombs on other countries.  But dealing with Hezbollah a few years ago, and Iraq, which was busy with a war of their own with Iran in 1981, and a potential Strike by Israel in Iran now, are worlds apart.

And the Answer Palin gives is more Obfuscation here.  YES WE CAN second guess what our allies are doing if they threaten the peace and stability of a region that has precious little of it and it’s important to our Government.  I personally wish our government wasn’t so damned hell-bent on “protecting” our interests, OIL interests most likely….Back to the Subject at hand, yer damn right we need to talk to the Israelis if they’re gonna do that. We might not convince them to stop, but try we must.  Just like it would be in our Interests to talk to the Iranians, and get them to step away from the Nuclear option, and prevent a nuclear war in the region.   The only Place “PREVENT” doesn’t work is on a football field.

If you can listen to the CRAP the Republicans put out and still buy the Rhetoric, you are hopelessly Un-American.  STOP HATING AMERICA! JOIN THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY!

That’s it for me.  Catch ya Later!

Today’s Nuggets, Via QuotelandModern politics is, at bottom, a struggle not of men but of forces. The men become every year more and more creatures of force, massed about central powerhouses.        I really don’t have all that much to say…..well I do, but what I want to say I cannot.  An obligation I respect requires me to be silent.    So….I’m just gonna toss a few blurbs out there.

Sarah Palin says she is ready to be President.  Good for her.  The more intriguing question tho, is she ready to be Vice President in case John McCain does not die in office?  Is she ready to lead this nation in…Breaking ties in the senate? To meet mid level dignitaries and pretend to be interested in Angola and Belize when she’s got a kid potentially getting his arse shot off in Iraq.  And no I will not wish ill on her or her kid ever.  Especially not this day.  I need no incentive to be humane.

Insensitive I can do all day, but inhumane? Nah… Not my style.

John McCain and Barack Obama took off the gloves for one day and acted like gentlemen here in the Big city.  Good boys.  Good to see that the Republican Lies and the Democratic Smears could be quelled for a day.  Which just means tomorrow will be twice as hard and mean as the last few days have been.

The Pig still has Lipstick on it, but now it looks more like an elephant rolling in it’s own shit.  Maybe that’s just me.  You tell me.

And you know what the scariest thing is here?  The Sanest voice on this whole lipstick debacle is……Mike Huckabee. Good lord, when the preachers are the calm relaxed ones, we’ve all gone too fucking far.  McCain needs to calm it down with his bullshit, and learn to be a man.

But I tell ya, I LIKE this Palin character.  She is EVERYTHING that is wrong with America, She tries to make it look good and sound good, but has nothing.  Example.  In a talk today with soldiers going to Iraq that they would:

“defend the innocent from the enemies who planned and carried out and rejoiced in the death of thousands of Americans.”

Ummm…..Wait….didn’t we get rid of the silly notion that Iraq was in cahoots with Al-Qaeda YEARS Ago? I thought we had. It took the Bushies a bit to figure it out, but some of us had it figured out before the invasion of Iraq, and even the most blind individual knew Iraq wasn’t involved after “Mission Accomplished” and there was no sign of Al-Qaeda. And what happened to Hunting Down Osama Bin-Laden? He’s still free, BTW. On the SEVENTH ANNIVERSARY of that dark day, That rat fuck is still free. And who’s fault is that? The people who decided that Iraq needed to be invaded, thereby taking precious resources away from the actual hunt for this rat bastard and his evil minions.

And now, on THIS DAY, 9/11/08, Sarah Palin reminds us that there are still idiots out there who believe everything the government tells them to believe, despite the fact that all evidence points to Al-qaeda being more prevalent in several other nations…. Like Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Well… That’s it for me.   I have had my moment of Silence for those that died seven years ago today.  So have the rest of you, many hours ago I would presume.

Onto the Daily Abuse.  Who to shoot at tonight….Hmmm…Sarah Palin and the Republicans!!! they’re easy targets, And Palin in Particular makes it easy, doesn’t she?  I mean, anyone who can in reality say that they don’t know the story of her flip flopping on “The Bridge to Nowhere” is just full of shit,  and doesn’t deserve to be paid any attention in the political realm at all.  from anyone.  EVER.  It’s documented, and all over youtube.

And you have to be blind dumb and slightly mentally unstable to not see that the Republicans are trying to paint, with some success, the Media as attacking her.  But do you know what I think? That is part of the process, that is just the way it is around these parts.  Obama dealt with insanely harsh criticism for MONTHS, and I was part of it, a small almost insignificant part, but a part nonetheless, of the constant bashing on Barack Obama prior to his getting the nomination.  If you can’t handle the heat, don’t jump into the fire.  And Sarah Palin, by accepting the nomination for V.P. jumped into the fire.  I’ve actually seen tape of John McCain’s former campaign manager and current staffer Rick Davis say they won’t let her speak until the Press shows some type of deference to Mrs. Palin.

       THAT IS BULLSHIT.

Unless the Press treats Barack Obama, and John McCain and Joe Biden with deference, she should get none either.  And since they don’t, she shouldn’t. That simple.   And if you think any of these three other characters in this Power Play get any deferential treatment in general, you are more biased than any of the press you’re bitching about.  And to every player, or person who thinks their side is having to deal with bias from the media, I have four words to say to you.

      Quit Yer Bitchin, assholes.

I was watching Countdown with Keith Olbermann, and the Rachel Maddow show (Loved the Show Kid, Good Stuff!!!!) and I have to tell you the new stuff on her is just FREAKY.  Her, Palin, On stage, at a church, telling people that the war in Iraq and the Pipeline deal she’s fighting for is all in god’s plan.  Listen, as a formerly religious person, I have to tell you, that it is just WIERD that anyone, ANYONE, would mention an aggressive war of occupation and a Multi billion dollar business deal in Church.  And she wanted people to pray for the Multi billion dollar business deal?  Who is her God anyway, Rex Tillerson, President and CEO Of ExxonMobil???? What the Flying FUCK is that about?

Listen America, if you want to be assholes, do it on your time. Don’t give me any shit on mine.  This Woman is nuttier than a fruitcake.  If you vote this Dipshit and her Trained Doofus McCain in, you deserve whatever economic disaster they create.  The Republicans have shown no propensity whatsoever to do anything that shows they give two shits about The Average American.  And I am an Average American. There are tens of Millions of us.  We won’t have it.

No.  Just No.  Fuck off. This election is a poker game, and I’ll see your anti American Conservative values, and raise you REAL American Anger at the wrongs you and your conservative friends have pulled, From the Bushes and Newt Gingrich to that old O.G.        I would have blogged sooner but I ..well I was watching football, and I did some running and working out…I have the day off today so I can go to jury duty tomorrow.  Not too big a deal.  I’ve done jury duty before, It should be no big deal.

No Political news of any kind today.  At least none that I saw…except that Sarah Palin will talk to Charles Gibson next week.  No big deal as far as I see it, so she’s talking to the press.  It had to happen sometime, didn’t it?  I’m more interested in what she says and how she reacts to more negative and pointed attacks from her democratic rivals.  There was something that I caught a second of on C-Span a while ago that I might check in its entirety when I have spare moment.  A 2006 debate that involved one Sarah Palin, who was then running for Governor of Alaska.  I didn’t hear her say one word during the brief section i watched, and I am interested to hear her viewpoints in general at that point, if for no other reason to see if her viewpoints a scant 2 years ago are any different then they are today, and also to see what kind of debater she is.  Both things are I think are at least somewhat important.

Let’s see, what news did I catch today.  Ummm…Not much.  There’s a big damn hurricane heading towards Cuba and the Gulf of Mexico.  Ike looks like he could hit Florida after he finishes beating the hell out of Cuba.  The One piece of good news is that Ike weakened slightly and is not hitting Cuba as a cat 4 Hurricane, which is what was expected.  We’ll see what happens when he leaves Cuba and heads towards the Gulf of Mexico and Florida or wherever he decides to go.

What else…I’ve covered Paulson and The Treasury taking over Freddie mac and Fannie Mae.  Tom Brady Got hurt today, There’s bad news for the Pats fans out there. He got hit by a Chiefs player whose name I currently forget, who was in fact pushed from behind by a Pats player.  The Chiefs player landed on his left knee and Brady fell awkwardly.  I’m not a pats fan tho, so I’m not all that worried.  He’s having an MRI taken of the damaged appendage tomorrow.  Luckily for the Pats, Matt Cassel stepped up admirably and led the Patriots to a Victory over the next to worst team in the league, 17-10.

Nothing else going on really.  I think I’m gonna toss a Video in here and be done with it.

Today’s Nugget, Hamlet’s Soliloquy, Via Wikiquote:   To be, or not to be, — that is the question: —
Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them? — To die, to sleep, —
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache, and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to, — ’tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wish’d. To die, to sleep; —
To sleep, perchance to dream: — ay, there’s the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come,
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause: there’s the respect
That makes calamity of so long life;
For who would bear the whips and scorns of time,
The oppressor’s wrong, the proud man’s contumely,
The pangs of despis’d love, the law’s delay,
The insolence of office, and the spurns
That patient merit of the unworthy takes,
When he himself might his quietus make
With a bare bodkin? who would these fardels bear,
To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after death, —
The undiscover’d country, from whose bourn
No traveller returns, — puzzles the will,
And makes us rather bear those ills we have
Than fly to others that we know naught of?
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all;
And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o’er with the pale cast of thought;
And enterprises of great pith and moment,
With this regard, their currents turn awry,
And lose the name of action.

I sit here at my desk at my office on a Saturday night, the lights in the back of the room muted, with really not a whole lot going on, and I say to myself, what can i write about today? Everyone and their dead uncle Ernie are talking about Sarah Palin, or John McCain, or Barack Obama, or Fannie mae and Freddie mac, or some such bullshit, and I can’t help but think that, if you immerse yourself in this everyday, it’s going to leave a mark, and it’s not going to be pleasant.  I’m just an ordinary man, I can’t sit here and tell you that every moment of every day I care about every thing that goes on everywhere.  That’s bullshit, and if you find someone who says otherwise, god bless’em, I can’t do it.

I was brought to this thought because I have been here at this computer going through stuff on digg.com, watching videos from the candidates, reading stories that, while interesting, are about as illuminating as a black hole, and about as informative as dead silence in an empty room.  I was trying to figure out what I would write about today, and it struck me, I just don’t care.  I have enough other things going on in my life where, even with the drastic importance of this election, and the awe inspiring events, and I don’t mean that in a positive way, that happen every day in a million places, things just aren’t registering.  The dull ache in my head just behind my eyes.  The resigned shrug every time I read ANOTHER story about some asshole being an asshole to another asshole.  The thought that I may just read one more story by a person who is OUTRAGED by some thing or another.  Ya know what matters to me?

My Wife.  Bills.  Sleep.  The noisy new landlord.  Bugs in my apartment.  Rain, too much rain.  And so in honor of this almost complete , albeit temporary, ambivalence towards the world, I have decided to dedicate this blog to the Number 340.  That is how many times I have posted a blog here on wordpress.com.  What does it mean?  Not a damn thing.  And I am pleased at that.  Ya know tho.  I will post some political stuff for all that I’ve just said.  Just a few links.  Peruse and enjoy.

Anagram: Not The Right Notes?/Test Her Tonight? No

As I sit here listening to Dick Dale and the Del Tones play “Banzai Washout” (I love XM) while drinking my second cup of coffee, I wonder about quite a number of things going on today.  Elections in Angola and Pakistan, both significant in their own ways to American interests.  McCain and Palin and Obama Oh My!  Jobs losses mounting.  Fannie Mae and Freddie mac are about to be taken over by The Government. Ummm…There was a football game yesterday, or so I heard …. Hmm…. Dunno that I can cover it all In one blog-post….Hmmm… Let’s Cover the Insane Incompetence of One Henry Paulson first.

A few Months ago, Mister Paulson urged Congress to put together a package that would act as a bailout of sorts for The two Mortgage Giants.  He thought it would provide confidence to the housing market.  But it didn’t work quite that way now did it?  Between the two firms this year, there’s been a total of almost $15,000,000,000 in losses.    This quote from a story on Bloomberg:

….Mudd and Syron must approve of any government intervention under the law, unless the FHFA declares that either firm has insufficient capital. The legislation gave the Treasury the power through the end of next year to extend unlimited credit to or make equity purchases in the firms.

The FHFA was scheduled to release its own assessment of the companies’ capital levels as early as this week as part of a quarterly appraisal of their finances.

Analysts have speculated that the Treasury would wipe out common shareholders, while seeking to shield preferred stock-owners from total loss. Fannie and Freddie preferred shares are typically owned by banks and insurance companies. Their $5.2 trillion of debt outstanding is held by investors including Asian central banks, and would probably be guaranteed, analysts said.

Now I don’t know how many common shareholders there are, but I hope those that are common shareholders in either of these have other money put away elsewhere. I don’t know how much this is going to cost the American taxpayers, but with several TRILLION dollars in Mortgages owned by these two, I fear for the Short term Health of the economy MUCH more now than I did a few days ago, and I have not been of the opinion that the economy has been all that healthy to begin with.

Oh yeah, these two companies, which will be in a “Conservator-ship”, which is kind of like being made wards of the state, for lack of a better term, have to sell bonds to help pay off their debt.  That won’t change. But it does raise one question.  How do you expect people to want to invest in bonds from these two when you throw common shareholders under the bus? I don’t know about you, But I would not buy.  I don’t have that kind of money to throw away in a company that is in no position to protect its investors, and would do a great many things with said money if I did.  I would like to see these investors protected, but then again, If these two organizations were in a position to do so, there would be no talk of wiping out common shareholders, and we wouldn’t be in this mess, now would we?

In Other News, the net job loss here in the U.S. in August was 84,000.  There has been a total of over 600,000 jobs lost since January, and Unemployment has hit it’s highest rate in 5 years.  The one piece of good news that I have seen is that no one is predicting Unemployment will hit 7%, at least not as far as the story i read on CNN Money i read.  But then again I am not all that certain that all that many people were thinking that Unemployment would hit 6% this year when the year started.

I don’t know about you people, but I think we might need a 21st century “New Deal” before all is said and done.  I hope the market and economy can get along without that level of government intervening, but with The Government buyout, of Fannie mae and freddie mac, and the job market just plain falling apart, with the mortgage mess, and credit crunch, and the whole mess, we need something.  I don’t know exactly what.  I don’t have the prerequisite knowledge or degree in advanced economics to give a detailed answer to the question.  I just know things are a hairy fucking mess and we need help.

With the amount of time this and energy and space this has taken, I don’t think I’ll be taking Gov. Palin to task for her inability to face the press.  Maybe I’ll hit that in the video.  Ya Know, I will!
