Week 2 WILDLY INACCURATE NFL Pick Results

My WILDLY INACCURATE picks were … well … not so wildly inaccurate.  OK, I wasn’t dead on accurate, but not nearly as inaccurate as the title might suggest.

A few thoughts about week 2 before looking at how I did on my picks.

________________________________

Raiders did keep it tight like I thought, but the Bills looked good.  This Bills offense looks for real from here on week 2.  Talk to me after week 3, after their first run-in with the Pats.

The Lions have scored more points than any team in the NFC.  The Lions D has given up fewer points than any team in the NFC.  Welcome to Bizarro world.

I was just horrifically wrong as far as that Ravens pick was concerned.  I didn’t think the Ravens would fall apart quite so badly as they did against the Titans.  The Titans made them turn the ball over several times, after doing that to the Steelers week 1.  Must suck to eat it that bad one week after that win, against a team they were supposed to beat.

Colts suck.  Maybe the Colts front office should take Jeff George up on his offer. Couldn’t do much worse, could they? Maybe David Garrard could fill in?  Hell, I could toss a spot start in for them if they’re that hard up for talent.

Bucs? Meh.  Vikes? Meh².

I honestly thought the Bears would show up with more than they did here.  But the Saints tee’d off on Cutler, beat his ass into the dirt and Saints QB Drew Brees was the QB we all know he is, one of the best, and he made the Bears look just plain bad.

The Jets Mark Sanchez wasn’t great, but he was effective.  Their run game wasn’t great but it was effective.  The D was a stone wall and the Jags could do nothing.  Didn’t help them that Luke McCown sucks.  But better QB’s than him have wilted under the assault the Jets D tosses out there.

Steelers played like a team that needed to remind itself that they weren’t as bad as their week 1 effort.  Mission accomplished.   And the Seahawks paid for the Steelers pain.  Sucked to be them.

The Redskins are the best mediocre team in the NFL.  The Cardinals aren’t bad, and they could have won this game against the Skins, but the Cards D was just porous enough for the Skins and allowed a few long drives, and one badly timed turnover late did the Cards  in.

This kid Newton in Carolina is for real. I didn’t think he was when I picked against him the way I did this week.

The 49ers attempted to kill Tony Romo, but they could not.  They broke his bones.  They punctured one of his lungs.  They still lost.  Sucks to be them.  That guy is one tough S.O.B.  I dunno if he’ll play next week, but he says if he can, he will.  I for one believe him.  Better fit him for a flak jacket.

The Bengals have this kid, Dalton’s his name.  He ain’t half bad.  Doesn’t mean he’s good, but he was this week, at any rate.  He kept the Bengals in the game, and made the pick a good one for me.  Broncos fans need to relax with this Tebow crap.  He isn’t ready.  If he was, he’d be out there.  So shut up, Denver.

The Texans run game is for real.  The 3rd best running back in the league in running yards, The Texans Ben Tate, is the guy who was #2 in their depth chart at that position.  When Foster comes back, y’all better watch out.

Tom Brady is going to throw for 6,000 yards this year.   And Rob Gronkowski is going to score 15 TD’s.  Unless someone figures out that you have to HIT THE QUARTERBACK IN ORDER TO DISRUPT THE OFFENSE.  The first two teams the Pats have played so far this year hadn’t figured that out.   Dumbasses.

I watched the play where Mike Vick got his concussion.  And it may make me a callous bastard, but I lolled.  Dude bonked his own O-linemen and bounced off of him.  lulz!

Giants.  At times on Monday the G-men’s offense looked like a team in deep need of help.  And at times the refs obliged.  I don’t mind.  They got things going after a while and made some good plays, but the D gave up way too damn many yards to a less than spectacular Rams team.  These Giants are all sorts of mediocre.  I may have been too kind in thinking they were going to go 8-8 this year.
