I have been avoiding writing about Japan.  In fact, I don’t want to write about Japan.  The story interests me greatly, makes me feel horrible to see the suffering these people are going through.  But there are quite enough people reporting, and talking about it.  I am just going to watch, let others take this one.  Say a prayer for them, if you’re the praying kind, and if you have a few extra bucks, send it along to them.  They need all the help they can get.

Is a democracy, such as we know it, the last improvement possible in government? Is it not possible to take a step further towards recognizing and organizing the rights of man? There will never be a really free and enlightened State until the State comes to recognize the individual as a higher and independent power, from which all its own power and authority are derived, and treats him accordingly.

Henry David Thoreau, Civil Disobedience

I’ve got nothing tonight, America, I am beat, and I’m calling it a night.  See ya later.
