4/29/10 Just A Bit Rushed

Anything that gets the adrenalin moving like a 440 volt blast in a copper bathtub is good for the reflexes and keeps the veins free of cholesterol… but too many adrenaline rushes in any given time span has the same effect on the nervous system as too many electro-shock treatments are said to have on the brain: after a while you start burning out the circuits. When a jackrabbit gets addicted to road-running, its only a matter of time before he gets smashed — and when a journalist turns into a politics junkie he will sooner or later start raving and babbling in print about things that only a person who has Been There can possibly understand.

Viddies of the day:

First up, a viddy about the massive oil spill in the gulf of Mexico.  Burning off the oil isn’t going to fix the problem this giant oil spill from the rig explosion, neither will skimming the oil out of the water, not with the amount of oil there, not with the amount of oil pumping out into the Gulf of Mexico.  This environmental disaster, or something like it, would seem to me to be almost unavoidable.  Accidents happen. But this is what happens when you want to DRILL BABY DRILL, now isn’t it?

Can’t be helped, I guess.

Second viddy, is a viddy from C-span with former President Clinton being asked about Goldman Sachs by “Face The Nation” host Bob Scheiffer.  Interesting answer, interesting viddy.

Not really all that much to say at this point in the day.  I have been busy all day, from work, to commuting, to helping the wife around the house, to help make dinner to running, to finding links and quotes for this article.

But work was good, got done everything we needed to get done.   The run was fun, haven’t run in a few days so I had a few extra horsepower for the run.  The dinner was good, Salisbury steak with rice pilaf and corn.  I really, when I finally did get to this article, found that I had not a whole lot to really write about.

But it’s not like there isn’t anything to write about.  There is a TON going on in the world.  The rig explosion and the resultant oil spill is an absolute hairy friggin mess and at this point is an environmental disaster, and seems like the perfect counter to the “drill baby drill” crowd,  Ya know?  We do need to drill, but there’s no reason to be all RAH RAH about the whole damned thing.

The republicans are finally going to stop fighting the American people and allow the Senate to debate financial reform.

Arizona’s law has painted the people of that states bigwigs, Kyl, McCain and whothehellever that idiot governor is, as complete gibbering morons.  And they were put there by their people, so it reflects directly on their people, who by extension are a bunch of nutjobs.

Aaaaaand my hockey predictions are a friggin MESS!  The Sabres and Caps LOST….not that I was ROOTING FOR THEM…

Just a bit rushed here tonight.  I need sleep and I have no time to go in depth anywhere.  Dammit.  Sorry, will do better tomorrow, my promise!

Quote and Pic of the day:  You may say a cat uses good grammar. Well, a cat does — but you let a cat get excited once; you let a cat get to pulling fur with another cat on a shed, nights, and you’ll hear grammar that will give you the lockjaw. Ignorant people think it’s the noise which fighting cats make that is so aggravating, but it ain’t so; it’s the sickening grammar they use.
