April Idiots

I have approximate answers and possible beliefs in different degrees of certainty about different things, but I’m not absolutely sure of anything, and of many things I don’t know anything about, but I don’t have to know an answer I don’t feel frightened by not knowing things, by being lost in the mysterious universe without having any purpose which is the way it really is as far as I can tell possibly. It doesn’t frighten me.

Scott Roeder got “the hard 50” from a Kansas judge today.  More than 50 years in prison for a man who is 52 years old, for the murder of a man who was acting as an usher in a church on Sunday. Let me repeat that.  In a church on Sunday, and stalked him to boot.  It does not matter that the man killed was an abortion doctor, not at all.  He was a human, and regardless of his occupation, you do not kill people in this world and get away with it.

Roeder is an extremist who thinks the bible supersedes the laws of this land, and incredibly un-American thing to think, especially for a man who is a former militia member who was arrested for carrying bomb making equipment in the 1990’s.

I care not that this half a man claimed to be fighting for “the babies”.  He killed a man.  Abortion, like it or not, is legal.  Murder isn’t.  Killing anyone without provocation, no self defense involved, just walk up and execute a man like Roeder did, is evil.

Violent extremism in any guise is a vice.  Evil in defense of children is still evil.  This half a man Roeder is a murderer and he will die in prison, deservedly so.

If we are all insane, then all insanity becomes a matter of degree. If your insanity leads you to carve up women like Jack the Ripper or the Cleveland Torso Murderer, we clap you away in the funny farm (except neither of those two amateur-night surgeons were ever caught, heh-heh-heh); if, on the other hand, your insanity leads you only to talk to yourself when you’re under stress or to pick your nose on your morning bus, then you are left alone to go about your business…although it’s doubtful that you will ever be invited to the best parties.

The RNC has really been hit with a rash of stupid recently.  I can’t understand how an organization that had it’s man in the white house a mere 16 months ago, and that is somewhat resurgent, could be this mistake and error prone.  The whole voyeur club in L.A. thing just looks immensely stupid. The staff was warned that those types of expenses weren’t going to be paid for, I recall reading that somewhere, but the “young eagles” republican club went ahead and did it anyway.

Now there is a fundraising letter that went out with a wrong number on it that has a phone number listed to call to give donations, that if dialed, has you actually calling a phone sex hotline.  They were supposed to put a 202 area code on the listing, but someone goofed and gave an 800 number instead, which sends you to the aforementioned phone sex line.

One presumes that is a mistake, but with the recent doings at the RNC ya never know.  With the way Michael Steele has been spending money over there, this may be a lucrative way top get those lonely Republicans to keep giving and giving.

Gotta love the fake grassroots stuff.  Because nothing says grassroots like a billionaire using his clout to cloud the political atmosphere.

That sir which serves and seeks for gain,
And follows but for form,
Will pack when it begins to rain,
And leave thee in the storm.
But I will tarry; the fool will stay,
And let the wise man fly:
The knave turns fool that runs away;
The fool, no knave, perdy.
