Pretty damned hot, if you’re a Somali pirate with the United States Navy breathing down your neck. Apparently there are at least two warships out there in the area. One the USS Bainbridge is already on patrol in the area while a second, the USS Halyburton, a frigate with 2 helicopters on board is headed into the area.
Good to see that the FBI is assisting the Navy in bringing these bastards in. There has to be some type of non-military legal American authority there to mete out justice. That is mete out justice, if the navy leaves them anything more than a few smoking embers floating of what remains of that little lifeboat they and the captain got on and are currently floating in. I for one will hope and pray that the captain of the Maersk Alabama, Capt. Richard Philips makes it out in one piece. But I must be honest, desperate men will do desperate things in desperate times, and these 4 Somali pirates are clearly in desperate straits right now, and I expect that the captain, strong though I am sure he is, will probably unfortunately not make it.
Good luck captain, yer gonna need it.
In other news…
Leon Panetta says in a letter to CIA employees that he has informed congress that America is closing down its “black site” prisons. No one has been placed in one of those prisons since he has taken over at CIA headquarters. In the same report, he also states that America will no longer use contract employees to conduct interrogations. There is a link, i believe between these contract employees and improper methods of interrogation. It is good to see that the use of non army manual interrogations are officially going out the window. And these black sites, these secret prisons run by the CIA, can only do good by going the way of the dodo.
All evidence shows that no actionable intelligence of any variety was gotten from either of these sources of information. There is also evidence that shows that by patiently talking to suspects and getting them to speak gets more valuable information from them. It is good to see that the CIA has jumped on this amazing new concept in intelligence gathering called practicality. Cops use these simple methods every day to get the most information out of suspects who either don’t care or won’t talk.
It is good to see that there is some common sense in the way things are being handled in the CIA during this administration.
A few more videos, a few quotes, and I am done.
Two videos here for you, on why you should never talk to the police, and by extension why it is easy to extract information out of people. Most people want to tell their side of the story, want the world to know what they know. Watch and tell me what you think.
And here’s Part two;
That’s it for me. Later!
In every one of us there are two ruling and directing principles, whose guidance we follow wherever they may lead; the one being an innate desire of pleasure; the other, an acquired judgment which aspires after excellence.
