Anagram: President Obama/Tempted Abrasion

barack-obama        A short look at a few of the policies that will come to pass if candidate Obama becomes President Obama.

The Man plans on creating something called the “Making work pay” tax credit.  This will give individuals up to a $500 and Working families up to $1,000.  According to His website, this will completely eliminate income taxes for 10,000,000 Americans.

He also plans on simplifying tax filing.  Using Information the IRS already gets from banks and employers, so that you and i can have the option of having pre-filled out tax forms sent to us, streamlining the process so all we have to do is verify, sign, and return your tax return.

This next bit I REALLY Like, quoting Senator Obama’s website:

  • Establish a Credit Card Bill of Rights to Protect Consumers:Obama will create a Credit Card Bill of Rights to protect consumers. The Obama plan will:
    • Ban Unilateral Changes
    • Apply Interest Rate Increases Only to Future Debt
    • Prohibit Interest on Fees
    • Prohibit “Universal Defaults”
  • Require Prompt and Fair Crediting of Cardholder Payments
  •      I get the SNOT slammed out of me with finance charges and the like on all my credit cards, several of which i have not had for a number of years.  I am certain that I am not the Only one.    One thing I would do, I would put in a “Grandfather clause” and backdate all these Ideas several years. That would be a really nice touch, for a lot of people who have gotten and still get slammed, like I do, with all the annoying fees that seem to have but one purpose, that of lining the pockets of these megacorporations at the expense of the General public.

The Bush Tax cuts for the wealthy will, by the Time 2009 comes around, and that isn’t that far away, have cost the nation $2,300,000,000,000.  Candidate Obama plans to cut out the Bush tax breaks for the wealthy so they can pay their fair share.  After all, if you have more money, should you not bare more of the burden of the cost of running things?

Candidate Obama plans to End Subsidies for Oil and Gas companies, and will eliminate loopholes and deductions used by said Oil and gas companies, as well as other large conglomerates.

Now I don’t know about you, but, Ladies and Gentlemen, a word comes to mind when I see all that he wants to do here.  Ambitious.  And it is good that he has these ambitions.  These are all good Ideas whose time has come.  The American people need financial help, and a lot of it, and there is a lot of it here.  Now, as I have said before, I was a big fan of Hillary’s plan, but this plan is VERY good and will do a great deal of good for a great deal of people who need a great deal of help.

And if you haven’t seen it, I posted a piece of this earlier, but here it is, In it’s entirety, Hillary Clinton’s Concession speech, via Youtube. Thanks to Veracifier for posting this.

That’s it for American Politics for Today, It’s time to revisit Zimbabwe.

The Courts In Zimbabwe overturned a ban a police ban on opposition rallies this weekend.   Quoting Th Reuters story on this:

Zimbabwe’s High Court on Saturday overturned a police ban on opposition rallies this weekend ahead of the June 27 presidential run-off, a lawyer for the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) said. “The effect of the order is to allow MDC rallies to proceed. The order simply says that police should not interfere with the MDC rallies. We made an urgent chamber application after police wrote to say the rallies scheduled for this weekend should not continue,” MDC lawyer Charles Kwaramba said.  He said High Court Judge Alfas Chitakunye gave the order on Saturday afternoon. The application only sought to challenge the police ban on MDC rallies scheduled for this weekend.  “The ruling is logical. What is disturbing is we have to go to the High Court each time we want to meet our supporters. That only happens in a dictatorship.

Well, DUH!  It IS a dictatorship.  Just because you have a constitution doesn’t mean you have all the freedom you want.  Freedom is something you have to continually fight for, every day in every way. Maybe the MDC will bring it, maybe not, but you have to fight for it continuously.

Someday Zimbabwe will have the freedom it seeks as a nation.  You have a constitution now, but it is merely a piece of paper, without the strength to fully protect you.  The day will come when that document will be as strong as the nation and the people it represents.

That’s it for Zimbabwe.  Onto Music.

Guitar:  Modes.  I played them.  All.  In all keys.  I played a number of my songs, mostly older ones that I haven’t played in a while.  Played around with a bunch of different keys, just noodling around. Let’s see, I played around with certain keys.  An example.  pick a note at random.  Play a major scale in that key. Then play every variation of that major scale in as many places on the fretboard in as many positions as is physically possible.

I think i played about an hour and 15 minutes today. It was difficult to find time to play today between waiting for the Clinton Concession speech, making dinner and getting ready to get to work.  Still had a good day’s playing.  I could have played all day today, but work and other things caught up with me and I was only able to play for that little bit.

That’s it for me.  JAM ON!

Today’s Nuggets, Via Wikiquote:  “Power is not a means, it is an end. One does not establish a dictatorship in order to safeguard a revolution; one makes the revolution in order to establish the dictatorship. The object of persecution is persecution. The object of torture is torture. The object of power is power.”  George Orwell “1984″

There’s no question that character counts. Character counts today, it counted a century ago and it will count a century from now. It’s absolutely critical because you’re reflecting some basic beliefs of honor, integrity, and those different elements of life that will aid you in progressing and frankly, [you'll get] in trouble if you don’t believe in ‘em.   Milton Ward

Anagram: An Important Journey/Our Majority Pennant

Hillary Clinton To Begin, an excerpt from Hillary Clinton’s concession speech In Washington D.C.

I entered this race because I have an old-fashioned conviction: that public service is about helping people solve their problems and live their dreams. I’ve had every opportunity and blessing in my own life – and I want the same for all Americans. Until that day comes, you will always find me on the front lines of democracy – fighting for the future.

The way to continue our fight now – to accomplish the goals for which we stand – is to take our energy, our passion, our strength and do all we can to help elect Barack Obama the next President of the United States.

Today, as I suspend my campaign, I congratulate him on the victory he has won and the extraordinary race he has run. I endorse him, and throw my full support behind him. And I ask all of you to join me in working as hard for Barack Obama as you have for me.

I have served in the Senate with him for four years. I have been in this campaign with him for 16 months. I have stood on the stage and gone toe-to-toe with him in 22 debates. I have had a front row seat to his candidacy, and I have seen his strength and determination, his grace and his grit.

Read the contents of the speech here

For those of you who missed it, It was a moving and beautiful speech. It may have been the best speech I have heard this election cycle. She was absolutely masterful up on the dais today.  You could see that she herself was nearly moved to tears during it. Just after she said  “When you get knocked down, get right back up” she looked up…and for a second, just half a second, you could see her heart.  She almost cried right there….Almost.  She is a professional tho.  She pulled it together and managed to make it through.

A few Major points that she made. In her years of service, there have been only a handful of Democratic Presidents, only three of the last ten elections have gone to the Democrats. Don’t pass up this golden opportunity to add to that number. The MOST Important thing that we can do as democrats is to stand behind our Nominee, Barack Obama and make sure that he wins the election In November.

Women and African Americans, for so long stepped on minorities in this country, can now say that ANYONE can become president and have that statement ring true. Before this election, it was only a dream, Now it can happen, thanks to the fight that Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton put up to become the nominee of thier party to become President of The United States Of America.

Can the Democrats win this election? YES WE CAN!

I want to say so much more about this speech today, but i don’t know where to begin, so I simply won’t. The speech she gave is so much more eloquent than i am capable of being, Read it. Find a video of it, watch it. It’s beautiful. Just The thing to rekindle the American spirit.
