Obama Wins Again! Four wins in a row This weekend for The Illinois senator. Loiusiana, Washington, Nebraska, and Now Maine have all fallen to Sen. Obama. He is almost even with Senator Clinton as far as delegates are concerned, With Sen. Clinton with a mere 27 delegate lead as of this moment, 1148 – 1121. And I will say this much for the man. He sounds every bit the Winner right now. I was listening to a speech he gave in Richmond, Virginia last night, and not just him, but the reception given him by the crowd. The man knows how to work a room. He had them eating out of the palm of his hand. It was a wonder to behold. He is the picture of the Consummate Public speaker, polished, professional, gets his points across in a relaxed and conversational manner. And while he doesn’t really tell you how he’s going to do what he says he’s going to do, he gives the unerring impression that he can and will do it, whatever the It happens to be. He is witty, Funny, and engaging. You listen to the man talk about Kennedy and Roosevelt, and by invoking them he implies the same greatness is in him. And you Believe it. No wonder the man is doing as well as he is. Hillary on the Other hand is less effective a speaker, even tho she has a great deal more to say, and to my mind at least, has a better plan for the nation. She is banking on people hearing the message and the plan she is pushing because of the words she speaks and who she is and what she has done. Sen. Obama, on the other hand, simply speaks, without saying too much about what he is planning, He captivates his audience with grand phrases and great command of the language.
This I believe is why she wants to Debate him more frequently, Because she is the better debater, better at getting specific points across, while he is the better orator. Debate takes oration out of the equation and places emphasis on Facts, a Spot where Sen. Obama is less than spectacular, at least as far as I can see. I saw those cnn debates and he did not look nearly as comfortable there as he does when out making speeches.
Sen. McCain is also a good debater, and he may end up beating him, simply on the strength of his debating skills, No matter how much people don’t want another four years of George Bush’s policies.
Guitar: Played a fair bit for my short day. Not much in the way of scales or anything. Major scale in all keys and that’s about it. everything else was just noodling, more or less. Had fun just playing with a few themes today. Basic stuff really.
That’s it for me. I have work to get done. Go Jam!
Today’s Nuggets, and a long one, from www.americanrhetoric.com : We are a party — We are a party of innovation. We do not reject our traditions, but we are willing to adapt to changing circumstances, when change we must. We are willing to suffer the discomfort of change in order to achieve a better future. We have a positive vision of the future founded on the belief that the gap between the promise and reality of America can one day be finally closed. We believe that.
This, my friends is the bedrock of our concept of governing. This is a part of the reason why Americans have turned to the Democratic Party. These are the foundations upon which a national community can be built. Let all understand that these guiding principles cannot be discarded for short-term political gains. They represent what this country is all about. They are indigenous to the American idea. And these are principles which are not negotiable. Barbara Jordan
