A few basic things about my political point of view:
I care at least as much about society’s well being as my own, in large part because my fate and the fate of the society I live in are intrinsically intertwined. Treat the world and the people in it well, and by and large, they’ll treat you well.
I hold my personal freedom in higher esteem than my economic freedom. Not that money is trivial or unimportant, but if my personal freedoms are in good shape, I will be in a better position to look after my economic freedom. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Economic_freedom
I do Not believe My personal freedom is under attack at the moment, but I believe the groundwork for such an attack has been laid by the current administration. My personal freedom has yet to be compromised, but sometimes it feels like it has. Attempts on my Personal freedom have been made, but have been thwarted. The most notable was when Former Attorney General Gonzalez asserted in Senate testimony that while habeas corpus is one of our most cherished rights, the United States Constitution does not expressly guarantee habeas rights to United States residents or citizens. It is good that this enemy of freedom is done. Let’s hope those like him are never given any power in any way so we can keep America Free.
I Believe that Mike Huckabee would use and extend the powers of The United States Government to Reflect his Own Religious beliefs and extend them into the lives of those he wishes to rule over. A Direct Quote from the Man himself “I believe it’s a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that’s what we need to do — to amend the Constitution so it’s in God’s standards rather than try to change God’s standards so it lines up with some contemporary view.” I have no problem with God, or loving God, But I do have a problem with a man who wants to alter the very fabric Of our lives by altering unnecessarily the documents upon which our lives and freedoms are built.
Republicans are Not evil. But they aspire to it.
Now Onto One piece of news.
I heard that Fred Thompson decided to call it quits today just a few days before the Republican Florida primary. The only question I have is, what took ya? Your campaign has been stagnant and dead in the water almost since it’s inception, and since you’ve looked disinterested since this started, I have to ask, why did you start up in the first place? I can’t figure you out. But actors are an odd lot, Ya know? I’m sure you had the best interests of the world and your party at heart, but Ya know fred, you should have tried to show some heart too. You looked lifeless out there. I’ve seen roadkill that looked more prepared for the Presidency than you did. If you had shown a little more life and toughness, which was lacking out there brother, You might have gotten more support. Happy trails, Fred.
Ran today, Pain free I might add! 🙂 3.45 miles in 26:54.34 for a 7:47.92m/m pace This one was pretty good. Pushed hard early, took the foot off of the gas after about mIle 1.5 and cruised for a Bit before attempting an uphill push at the end of the run. The wind was the Big story today. The Variable winds here on Staten Island can be a Bitch when running in winter. In the space of four minutes I had the wind blowing from 4 different directions, each one directly in my face. Love That. Or Something. Workout was hard, really busted it. 16 minutes worth of Burpees and Deep knee bends, call it 130 Burpees and 325 Deep knee bends. Followed that up with 17 minutes of Punch and Kick drills. 11 minutes of Kick drills and 6 minutes of Punch drills to be more precise. when I finished that I did a few sets of crunches and few sets of Later bridges, then 2 sets of Chin-ups. 38:58.04 total sweat time today. I gave as much as I had out there today, and It was good.
I played some guitar today. Not alot tho. Not nearly as much as i would have liked. got in my exercises, and did my scales in all keys. Did siome arpeggios, but not that much. Concentrated on fingerpicking and trying to come up with new material to play. And I have been beating this to death the last few days, standard open chords done with unusual voicings. played with the 3rd and second strings open, but with the e on the 12th fret of the High e string and the C on the 10th fret of the Fourth string. move that entire proceeding over one string and get a G Maj. Then move up the neck 2 frets to make a g9th(no3rd). It has a nice sound to it. Goona go play some more before i go to sleep, Think I’m gonna just hit the chord bbible and see what I can learn and see how I can apply what I learn to what I am writing. Should be fun.
That’s it for me. See Ya Later. Jam On.
Today’s Nuggets: All, too, will bear in mind this sacred principle, that though the will of the majority is in all cases to prevail, that will to be rightful must be reasonable; that the minority possess their equal rights, which equal law must protect, and to violate would be oppression. Thomas Jefferson
It has ever been my hobby-horse to see rising in America an empire of liberty, and a prospect of two or three hundred millions of freemen, without one noble or one king among them. You say it is impossible. If I should agree with you in this, I would still say, let us try the experiment, and preserve our equality as long as we can. A better system of education for the common people might preserve them long from such artificial inequalities as are prejudicial to society, by confounding the natural distinctions of right and wrong, virtue and vice. John Adams
