This straight from the Cnn Ticker: Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee told South Carolina voters Thursday that the government had no business making decisions over the Confederate flag. “You don’t like people from outside the state coming in and telling you what to do with your flag,” Huckabee said at a Myrtle Beach campaign event. “In fact, if somebody came to Arkansas and told us what to do with our flag, we’d tell them what to do with the pole, that’s what we’d do.” You tell’em Mike. If those southerners want to be aggressively racist and fly the flag of Black oppression, They and You shouldn’t have to listen to intelligent people say that it’s a Bad thing to do to rub it in the face of people who you personally held down for Hundreds of years, and still probably do. That’s Wonderful Mike. Court That KKK vote you so want. That’s Just beautiful. Just one more Reason why I DON’T heart Huckabee. And while I can Understand not wanting The Feds Interfering with State Government, There is no reason for him to get all huffy about The Confederate flag flying. It’s a symbol of Oppression to millions of american’s. That’s why they don’t Like it mike. Those people Vote too, and You just Lost them. Well, maybe not lost, they never were gonna vote for you anyway. Too bad. So much for a United america, right mike? Black man’s vote means nothing to you right, mike? Dummy.
I do have more to add, but I’m busy at work right now, More when I can.
And Here it is. I have been challenged, but I’m not exactly sure if I want to meet this particular challenge. At my Job, There is this guy Named Tony, who, when speaking about the Steriod probe and hearing, made some off hand disparaging comment about it. I do not remember exactly what it was that he said, but I responded, speaking about Senator Mitchell’s role in the Yankees getting hung out to dry in the mitchell report “Hey, he was a good senator, and he never had anything to do with the Day to day operations of the Red sox” Something like that. Tony responded saying that he didn’t trust senators. I responded that “They go to the same schools that we do, the same churches that we do” Trying to make the point that they (senators) come from out of our society and that since we are a representative democracy, they have to necessarily be representative of us on a great many levels. He scoffed at that, and said “Mike, I’ll believe that when you can get one of them to call here in a week, if you called me, I’d call you back, i’ll believe what you said is true when you can get one of them to call .” Something like that. I don’t know why he picked a week.
Ladies and gentlemen, I don’t know if i should try to get one of them to call Him or not. I’ll be honest. These are Very Hard working people who do incredibly important work for a great many people. To sit here and presume that they have the time to sit and chat with some guy they’ve never met about something as trivial as this seems to me wrong. I said I would try, but now i am not so sure. I happen to think very highly of our (Democratic) leaders, and the incredible amount of work ALL legislators on both sides of the Aisle do, as well as the hard work that the people they work with behind the scenes do, and to interrupt that for any reason that isn’t a Major Issue seems to me to be about as wrong a thing as I can do. Ya Know. I’m not gonna. I was going to to, but these people deserve more respect then that. Calling them for that reason, just so a Co-worker can feel that a congressman is “One of us” is trivial at it’s core, and would be stupid and wrong
Played guitar today, not much but I played well, and I have another song a-brewing. Played My usual stuff, Major and Minor scales and 5 minor Pentatonic scales in all keys, As well as String skipping exercises and The usual chromatic Alternate picking exercises. Played for Maybe 45 minutes today, and I was good, Got in some chord progressions, but No arpeggios today. Had fun jamming today.
Ran and Worked out today. 3.45 miles in 26:41.96 for a 7:44.33 m/m Pace. Felt good even tho I had to stop again at the 2 mile marker. The weather wasn’t too bad, 32 degrees with only a slight breeze. Not a Bad day for a run. The Bad news is that the leg is acting up again. Dammit, This has got to stop, I may have to take this to a Doctor and see what he says. Dammit. Workout was good. Shadowboxing/DKB’s for 30 minutes, with 5 sets of Pushups/DKB’s, a few sets of Crunches and Lateral bridges, and a few sets of Chinups. 40:20.56 total sweat time. Twas a Good workout. Light but good.
Today is the 46th Anniversary of the Military Industrial Complex Speech given By Then President Dwight David Eisenhower. Today’s Nugget is a portion of This speech.
Today’s Nugget: In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel the proper meshing of the huge industrial and military machinery of defense with our peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together.
Akin to, and largely responsible for the sweeping changes in our industrial-military posture, has been the technological revolution during recent decades. In this revolution, research has become central, it also becomes more formalized, complex, and costly. A steadily increasing share is conducted for, by, or at the direction of, the Federal government.
