This page is dedicated to sweat.  It will be my daily running log.  It will include distance, time, pace, weather conditions and short commentary on each days run, which may include landmarks alien to you if you do not know the part of Staten Island I live one.  I will, at the end of each month, post the entire months numbers as a blogpost and begin the new months numbers fresh.  I might also throw in workout info in, if I deem it necessary.

Tues., Dec 1st:  Scheduled day off.  Going to try for a 10+ miler tomorrow. If i do it, it’ll be the first time in at least 7 weeks that I’ve gone that long.  Longest November runs were 1-  9.5 miler, and 2 – 9 mile runs.

Wed., Dec 2nd:  Unscheduled day off.  Left ankle surprised me by being sore this morning.  I was busy, and as the day went on it got better.  Never 100%, but close.  Like I said I was busy, and it was hours before I found time to do anything for myself.  By that time, a headache and my sinuses kicked in and did in any hopes of a run today.

Thur., Dec 3rd: Almost ran today.  Well…I did run, for almost 90 seconds before a combination of pain and coughing and hacking brought me to a screeching halt.  Right ankle is sore, but not too bad.  That had me slow to begin with.  But I think I have a cold of some type coming on.  Post nasal drip, sore throat, a headache and a cough have all hit me shortly after I wrote yesterday’s running commentary.  I thought I was better though.   It was nothing more that Post nasal drip today, so I went for it.  From about the 30 second mark though, I was hacking up phlegm and couldn’t stop coughing.  Hard to run when you can’t breathe right. Dammit.  I’ll try again tomorrow.

Sun., Dec 6th:  Been ILL for several days.  Worst cold I’ve had in years.  Run when I can, when this damned thing goes away.  This SUCKS!

Mon., Dec 14th:  Ran 3.3 miles in 27:28.96, an 8:19.68 m/m pace.  44 degrees, partly sunny, slight breeze.  Dammit it feels good to be back on the road.  The last two weeks I have been fighting this cold, and it’s been a real pain in the sinuses.  Still not 100% but I can breath better, finally, so I went for it.  Not too bad a run either!  I didn’t have to stop, didn’t have to slow down, fatigue was never really an issue.  THAT pleases me a great deal.  Not gonna go crazy and try to go super long anytime soon, but I can see a 6 or 7 miler before the week is out if I’m feeling 100% before then.

Tues., Dec 15th: Ran 5.2 miles in 43:25.56, an 8:21.07 m/m pace.  48 degrees, cloudy, breezy.  I wasn’t sure if i was going to be able to go this distance.  I’m a little sore from yesterdays run, my back and quads were feeling it throughout the run, but I was able to overcome that and push through.  I thought about trying to push a bit, speed wise before the run, but the soreness crept up and ended that thought. Sinuses are still bothering, but not bad enough where it was a threat to stop me.

Wed., Dec 16th:  Ran3.3 miles in 27:21.42, an 8:17.40 m/m pace.  34 degrees, sunny, windy.  Sore, beat and tired walking out the door to start, I was fine once I started running.  Feel better now, better than I have in a long time.  I almost got sick to my stomach from the effort after the run, but that happens with me when I run in cold and wind and push hard.  No worries.  Pushed pretty hard in cold and wind, I feel pretty damned good about that. At 48 degrees a 15mph wind is a breeze, at 34 it’s windy, and at 20 it’s blustery.  It’s all in the wording.  :-)

Thur., Dec 17th:  Ran 5.2 miles in 43:45.59, an 8:24.92 m/m pace.  26 degrees, sunny, blustery.  With the wind chills today it felt like it was about 15 degrees out there.  Hella day for a run!  Wind kicked my ass, but that’s what it’s supposed to do this time of year. Soreness in my quads is still there, but I’m fine otherwise.  There is no pushing hard out there in this weather, just running in this is pushing hard, and I wouldn’t miss it for the world.  17 miles in 4 days after 2 weeks off, think I’ll take a day off tomorrow.

Fri., Dec 18th:  Ran 3.3 miles in 27:27.21,  an 8:19.15 m/m pace.  28 degrees, sunny, breezy w/ occasional gusts.  I wasn’t going to run today, but went for it when I found myself feeling fine and raring to go.  It was actually a difficult run though.  Found myself laboring more than usual today, from almost the first step.  I have been feeling that cold, which i thought I was done with, coming back.  While it wasn’t more difficult to breath, every step was hard today.  Almost stopped several times, almost.  Still a good run.  Any day you can sweat is a good one.

I am no longer on Christmas party duty, I’m just rounding people up to make sure they know that money is needed at this point. I’ll drop you an e-mail with my new e-mail addresses at some point today.

10k to 14k steps? Average step being about 3 feet, that would be between 5 and 7½ miles. Nice.

    TAG
Home from cubscouts and a 3 mile hike of the Mannesquan resevior w/ the family. Place makes Silver lake look PUNY. BTW, the 10-14K is per day at work. Only 5k on weekends. No wonder why my shoes wear out so fast! Stay in touch amigo, and keep running – 2012 approaches!
