Anagram: Metal Tuesday/Astutely Made

Politics in a minute….   I hate when I don’t get to do my Metal Monday stuff, but it seemed to me that it would be a bit weird if I put in Metal Videos in with talk of a show with Davy Jones from the Monkees.  It would be an odd mix that I don’t know that I like.  So without further adieu, Megadeth, Good Mourning/Black Friday:

It’s Black Friday Tuesday, paint the devil on the wall…. Great shit.  Onto Politics.

In my search for the truth, justice, and really stupid crap, I occasionally run into stuff that just boggles the mind. A few facts for you. Did you know, for example, that over the past eight years the Federal government has paid over half a billion dollars to the Government of Canada…for trucks and tractors?  Tis True!  I am sure that the way things are going for the American car industry, they could have really used that money.   Canada has gotten nearly $5,000,000,000 in contracts over the last eight years to among other things, Radio and television communication equipment, Ammunition and landing gear.  Ain’t that great? NO IT’S NOT!  Dammit, can’t we do this stuff ourselves?

What its supposed to be about

What its supposed to be about

More fun with government funds.  Looking at government assistance, I found an oddly curious thing.  The New York State Department of Education got over 2 billion dollars…. in California.  Serious!  Recipient City? Albany.  Recipient County? San Bernardino!Recipient state? California! Dammit, I have a map, and it tells me that Albany is in Albany county in New York!

Man…Talk about redistricting! Fun! Fun! Fun!

I like to call myself a minarchist, but I have to be honest, I think of small government more as a dream to be chased then as a reality that can happen.  I look at the way our government works, and has worked since post WWII, and the fact that the government has grown, with the exception of one year, every year since 1946.  Think about this.  The value of all government contracts in FY 2000 was $208,840,867,387.43.  The value of all government contracts in FY 2008? $439,456,478,590.86

If you are seeing a theme here, it is because i have been rummaging around at http://www.usaspending.gov/index.php and I tell you, you can find some really funky shit in their.  It’ll make you shake your head.  It gets me going sometimes.  Give it the once over yourself, I guarantee, you’ll walk away wanting to strangle the shit outta someone.   I had a lot more written, but i tell you, It just looked so outlandish that, despite it’s reality, it looked unrealistic and I could not go with it.

So if you enjoy your Peace and serenity, DON’T LOOK!

A video, a few quotes and then I am done.

     That’s it for me.  Later!

Today’s Nuggets by Mark Twain, From Wikiquote:  We have not the reverent feeling for th506px-marktwain_loce rainbow that the savage has, because we know how it is made. We have lost as much as we gained by prying into that matter.

We all do no end of feeling, and we mistake it for thinking. And out of it we get an aggregation which we consider a boon. Its name is public opinion. It is held in reverence. Some think it the voice of God.

Nothing that grieves us can be called little: by the eternal laws of proportion a child’s loss of a doll and a king’s loss of a crown are events of the same size.
