I have been, here at work, watching the Pregame festivities at Yankee Stadium. It was absolutely beautiful. The Crowd was great. The players who you don’t normally see every day, unless it’s old-timers day, looked like they really enjoyed themselves. The Crowd exploded several times for many of the great players of this game. The Place ERUPTED when Bernie Williams came out for his introduction. The fans who remembered his great play throughout the years FINALLY got a chance to say goodbye to a truly great player, and a truly great Yankee. When they were going through the Introduction’s for Shortstops through History, Phil Rizzuto got a Big hand, but the Crowd let loose with an old fashioned Roll call “DEREK JETER” chant, that shook the stadium.
I have to tell you, I was honestly moved by the whole experience. It brought back so many memories of Yankees teams past, both the great teams and the not so great teams. This team has always had heart and While they all didn’t win championships, they never gave up, never quit, Not once. That was, is, and always will be the Hallmark of the Yankees.
Heart. This team, these fans, this city, has it. And it was on full display tonight before the game. I am going to go watch what I can of the game. I think a Yankee video works here.
Go Watch the Game. I’m gonna.
Regular Blog, chock full of politics, baseball, quotes and other such happiness after the game.
