Anagram: I’m a Lazy Bastard!/Stab a Lizard, Amy!

2008 July 10

       Politics in a Minute.

Damn right I am a lazy bastard.  I could have gotten to this blog hours ago, but I didn’t.  I could have gone to work today, but I didn’t.  I could have done a lot of things, but I just didn’t get to it today.  There are days like that, can’t be helped really.

Woke up 4 hours  early and after sweating my Ass off, I ran 6 miles and worked out, I had to deal with Verizon.  Talked to some guy for about an hour, and this guy just did not know what the hell was going on.  I told him all the stuff that was going on with my DSL, how it would only work if the phone was in use, He’d just never run into that before, asked me to do all the usual things, power cycle the system, make sure all the connections were good, all that crap.  I told him during each step of the operation I have been doing this drill for several years with DSL, and that everything was OK, it was just an odd glitch.  I didn’t want to throw him off further by using the words “high open” and confuse the poor man any further.  It took several line tests, several, maybe 5 or 6 and watching the results from his end for him to realize that everything he did was for naught.

Which I told him during the first 60 seconds of the conversation.  “I’ve had DSL for a few years and I know my way around the system, I’ve done everything there is to do.”  To no avail, but then again, that is to be expected, he’s the Tech, he’s supposed to have the answers.  No customer is supposed to know more than him.  Most times he’d be right.

He ended up referring this to the Local Office… Did I mention that this man was in India?

They handled it.  I have a clean connection…crossing fingers and hoping it stays that way.  It did crap out once before for like 20 minutes but, No worries.  It’s back.

Let’s see Politics…. hmmm…. Watched the Signing away of our fourth amendment rights live on C-span.  The Fisa Bill signing.  It hurt to hear the President personally thank several Prominent Democrats, Steny Hoyer in particular.  Up until that moment I was kinda holding out hope of Steny being one of those long shots for the Dem V.P. Spot.  Not Anymore.  He Thanked Jay Rockefeller as well.  The Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.  He is the great-grandson of John D. Rockefeller, which means it’s no surprise that he’d fall in line with the Business interests that are ruining this nation, and protect the telecomms at the expense of the 4th Amendment.

Watched with some Interest as Dennis Kucinich put in an article of Impeachment for President Bush today.  Found It kind of odd too.  I’m all for hanging the rat bastard, but with only six months left in his Presidency?  When all the Info you put out as Evidence is several years old and None of it new?  Too Little too late.  His hearts in the right place, I’ll give him that.  It’ll go nowhere, Into the Judicial Committee where it will rot it’s little legislative life away.

Two years ago, three years ago I would have been there with him, calling for Bush’s head on a stick.  Now? Let’s wait until we have a new president and nail his ass then.  Impeaching him now would be like firing the CEO of a Firm AFTER He took everything but the Kitchen sink and left investors to rot.

I Watched Barney Frank and Henry Paulson in a Finance hearing on the hill today, bits and pieces of it anyway.  Most of it was over my head this time, but Admittedly I was busy working out and fighting pain in Hamstrings and feeling tired as hell, not the most conducive frame of mind to be in to understand the subtleties that go along with market regulation.  I did catch That everybody there was chummy.  After the whole thing was over, Paulson almost ran up and started yakking and laughing and joking with Barney Frank. Now I know you don’t want to be needlessly adversarial, but then again, BFF isn’t exactly what you want to see either, ya know?

That’s It for me…wait.  The Video from the Floor of The House of Kucinich putting forth The Impeachment resolution.  Enjoy.

       That’s It for me.  Later!

Today’s Nuggets, Via Wikipedia:  Mr. Chairman, the PATRIOT Act allows Federal agents to look at public and university library patron circulation records, books checked out, magazines consulted, all subject to government scrutiny.  There used to be a time in this country when we were worried whether our young people knew how to read. Now some in our government are more worried that government agents be able to find out what people are reading.   Dennis Kucinich

The whole history of the progress of human liberty shows that all concessions yet made to her august claims have been born of earnest struggle. If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet deprecate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground, they want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters.   Frederick Douglas
