Funny Anagram title aside, today was, for our great nation an economic mess. We got the Golden Sombrero today. For those who don’t know the lingo, that’s baseball talk for a 4 strikeout day for a hitter, a truly crappy day. Oil Prices went through the roof, Jumping $11 in a single day, which, if it isn’t a record, is close enough to not make a difference. Unemployment went up an incredible .5% to 5.5%, the biggest one month surge in 20 years, and The DJIA Lost 395 points, a 3.1% drop. To top All this Off, the Dollar fell….AGAIN. All this means one thing.
WE’RE ALL GONNA DIE!!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!
OK it’s not THAT bad, but this is a hairy Honkin’ mess. We have a recession on our hands here folks, and it may turn into a full blown depression. I don’t know how things will turn out, or what the future holds, but It looks amazingly bleak. The price of oil went up after the Jobs report came out. Now I don’t know if this is interconnected, but one has to guess that at the very least there is some kind of connection. The shock of an unexpectedly bad Jobs report puts the oil market into an upswing, which hits an already leery stock market and pushes it through the floor, which in turn weakens and destabilizes the dollar. I may have the order wrong here, but it does look like the economy is so unstable that any negativity seems to have a domino effect, negatively effecting everything else. There is no buffer, no way to soften the blow anymore. It seemed to me, that in times past, there was some way to mitigate stuff like this, to weaken the effect of really bad news in one sector with strength in another. Maybe it’s me. This looks like the worst economic situation That has existed since I was born 40 years ago. And maybe longer.
If anyone knows how to fix this, I’m listening. Hell, the whole world is listening. Somebody Speak up!
That’s it for The Economy. Onto John McCain!
John McCain is full of crap! At least that is the allegation made in a story I am reading On Factcheck.org In the story in question Mister McCain is asked by a reporter from CBS In New Orleans, name of Maya Rodriguez, about the fact that he twice voted against a commission to investigate the Governments role in the Post Katrine Debacle. His response was:
I’ve supported every investigation and ways of finding out what caused the tragedy. I’ve been here to New Orleans. I’ve met with people on the ground. I’ve met with the governor. I’m not familiar with exactly what you said, but I’ve been as active as anybody in efforts to restore the city.
It is in fact on the record that twice in 2005 and 2006 that The Senator voted the Republican party line against 2 amendments offered by Sen. Hillary Clinton to investigate the post Katrina happenings. He then claimed that he voted against one of the Bills because it was loaded with pork. but the Story had this to say on that particular subject:
McCain suggested that he was merely voting against wasteful spending. He told the Louisiana reporter that he voted against “one of the bills” because it was riddled with pork.
McCain: I also voted against one of the bills that came down that was loaded with pork barrel projects that had nothing to do with New Orleans too. It had billions for projects and programs that had nothing to do with the recovery of the city of New Orleans.
The Clinton amendments, however, would have provided $3 million for the investigation but no funds for anything else.
The Only thing filled with anything here is Senator McCain, and He’s full of Shit here.

That’s it for McCain and Katrina: I haven’t gone International in awhile, It’s time to hit it.
Zimbabwe: Robert Mugabe is at it again. He has detained Opposition leader, and if you would believe the initial figures, that nations President, Morgan Tsvangirai, twice in the past two days. Both while on his way to campaign rallies. They have told him he cannot campaign any more because they cannot guarantee his safety. This is nothing more than Intimidation on the Part of Mugabe and Zanu-PF to put a stranglehold on The nation of Zimbabwe.
In a related story, Mugabe and his Government has suspended International aid to his nation. Approximately 1/3 of his nation have not enough food to eat on a day to day basis and depend on international aid to help them get through the day. The suspension has been called for because Mugabe and his people claim that the International aid workers are campaigning for The MDC.
WTF? Is this Nut job serious? He would much rather take his starving jobless people and make them suffer MORE for the sake of holding onto power then to help those people out? Hell, by helping them, by feeding them, he could foresee-ably GET votes with kindness here, by GIVING them the food they so desperately need, but would rather starve them and put the fear of death into a people who don’t really have all that much to live on, and are barely able to make ends meet, on the rare occasions they actually can.
That’s not a callous cruel heart at work, that’s an idiot who doesn’t know that he can get as much done with the carrot as with the stick. I hope the MDC Beats him soundly in this election and sends him back to his rat hole. He could do so much with the power he has. He could do good, be loved by the people, and in the process help himself and all his friends out, but he is just too stubborn and stupid to see that the road he walks on is the road to ruin and will only end with bloodshed.
…And if there is any real justice in the world, with him dead, while his people dance gleefully on his corpse.
That’s it for News, Politics, and Opinion. Onto Personal stuff.
Run: 4 Miles in 32:20.82 for a M/M Pace of 8:05.2 with 3 walking breaks in there. I wasn’t going to stop quite as much as i did today, 3 times total for 3 minutes total, but I needed it. I pushed hard when I ran, harder perhaps then i should have. I ran with the headphones again, Metallica again, but this time I found a song that I could use as a a pace setter. “Crash course in Brain Surgery” Not a fast song really, but one that had me using LOOOOOOONG loping strides. It’s only about 3 minutes long, but by the end of it, i was WIPED. I had to take an extra break. I was using VERY long strides for me, and I covered a LOT of ground for someone who has been in much better cardiovascular shape. If this was a year ago, when i was maybe 15 pounds lighter and running 40 miles a week, this would have been much easier. It was Fun, but it was rough. Just to look at it, If i take off the walk time and distance, I actually ran a sub 7:50, not bad for me right now.
Guitar: I have not played yet. I still have a few hours before i go to sleep, so I’ll be playing some. How much I’m not sure though. I always feel like crap when i have nothing to put in here in this blog that is in any way musical.
Video: Two today I think. First up.
Hillary Clinton: I was looking for Video from the senate floor about Katrina but a cursory glance showed none, at least not on the first few pages of a Youtube Search. So here she is Talking about Guantanamo and The Bush Administration:
Next Up. Barack Obama and Climate Change:
That’s It for me. JAM ON!!!
Today’s Nuggets: “[W]hen we look at the graphs of rising ocean temperatures, rising carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and so on, we know that they are climbing far more steeply than can be accounted for by the natural oscillation of the weather … What people (must) do is to change their behavior and their attitudes … If we do care about our grandchildren then we have to do something, and we have to demand that our governments do something.” David Attenborough
I see it all perfectly; there are two possible situations — one can either do this or that. My honest opinion and my friendly advice is this: do it or do not do it — you will regret both. Soren Kierkegaard
