Anagram: My Favorite Songs/A Sign For My Votes

This has been a good and relaxed day. There hasn’t been too much going on here. Woke Up late and Kinda took My time with the Stuff I had to do around here. That felt Nice. Wednesday is My Sunday, my day to relax, but it’s rare when I do, so It felt Nice to do things that way today. No politics today really, I responded to a Post By The P. Cash Perspective, and that’s about as Political as I am getting today. I have to think about his last response and how I am going to respond to it. The Guys got a Good head On his shoulders and he cares about his world. I think His perception of Things is a Bit skewed By skin color. That isn’t a Virtue, But that’s not a Vice either. Just a way of looking at things.

What I was Thinking of Doing was just drawing up a short List of My favorite albums and My favorite songs. Here Goes Nothing! First, a List of the First songs I ever remember listening to.

The First pieces of Music that I listened to, From My Mother old collection of 45′s when I was still only 4 or so (One of the few things I remember from that early in life) Were Glen Campbell’s “Rhinestone Cowboy”, The Beatles “I saw Her standing there” The Monotones “Book of Love” and the Penguins “Earth Angel” all beautiful records that i really like. Well Most, I haven’t heard Rhinestone Cowboy In a Dogs age, not sure How I’d react if I heard It again. She had Tons of Others as well. A song that I really remember Liking from is The Band “The Grass Roots” Temptation Eyes. I listen to the Oldies station around here, but they Never Play it. It’s a really Nice tune. Another One that had an Affect was “No Sugar Tonight” from the Guess Who. I could name 100′s of others. I also Had My Uncle Rich’s record collection that I sifted through and listened to. I really Liked a few of them. Jethro Tull’s Benefit really stands out as being My Favorite of the Collection. There was also The Steve Miller Band Album “Brave New World” that I liked, as well as “Pearl” from Janis Joplin, and, just a Little later, Black Sabbath’s First Album. Some Albums I looked at but don’t really remember listening to. Mostly Old dylan stuff. And the Obligatory Copy Of Carole King’s “Tapestry”. Dunno why I never Listened, but I never did.

As I got Older, and I didn’t Notice it at the time, was that I was really affected By the Music I listened to back then. Put It to you Like this. I am now 40 years Old. I am the Owner Of the Self Same Jethro Tull Benefit album, as well as The Steve Miller Band Album, and That Black Sabbath album. And Pearl. and The Dylan Stuff.

And Tapestry. and No I STILL haven’t listened to it. I will, someday. Maybe. :-)

Today’s Nuggets, Songs Lyrics, Courtesy of www.azlyrics.com :

All this machinery making modern music
Can still be open hearted
Not so coldly charted
It’s really just a question of your honesty, yeah
Your honesty
One likes to believe in the freedom of music
But glittering prizes and endless compromises
Shatter the illusion of integrity. Rush: The Spirit Of Radio: Permanent Waves.

Us and Them
And after all we’re only ordinary men
Me, and you
God only knows it’s not what we would choose to do
Forward he cried from the rear
and the front rank died
And the General sat, as the lines on the map
moved from side to side. Pink Floyd: Us and Them: Dark Side of The Moon

Hello me…its me again.
You can subdue, but never tame me.
It gives me a migraine headache
Thinking down to your level.
Yea, just keep on thinking its my fault
And stay an inch or two outta kicking distance.
Mankind has got to know
His limitations. Megadeth: Sweating Bullets: Countdown to Extinction

caryatid03       Hi all!  Hope everyone’s Having a Good Night.  Yes? We are? Good!  Good to see that everything is All good.  Let’s get to the Night’s Bloodletting.  Joy to The World!

Polling First today.  Let’s Look at some Numbers in The Upcoming Local Primaries.  In North Carolina, It Looks Like Senator Clinton is starting to make In-roads into Barack Obama’s Considerable lead there.  Rasmussen, who Had Barack with a 21% lead a few weeks back has taken shaven 7% off of that lead.  PPP, Which Had the Junior Senator From Illinois with a 25% lead a few weeks ago has had 13% shaven off of that lead.  Survey USA, which has never Had Obama Ahead by more than 10% has Him leading by only 5% at this point.  And while These Numbers are a LONG way away from a Win in North Carolina, They show two things happening.  Her Gaining ground and Him Losing it. Let’s Look at The PPP Numbers.  Last week PPP Had the Spread at +25% for Obama, With Him Leading 57% to 32%, But This week The Numbers are as Follows: Obama:51% Clinton: 39%.  And while That is still a Large lead for Senator Obama, He has Lost 6% of The Vote while she has gained 7%.  Now there is No Guarantee That this trend will Continue, But there is a Possibility that it could.  Let’s see what Happens there.   Obama 45%, Clinton 46%.  The Difference tho, even if this scenario doesn’t Play out, will be that 10-11% Undecided vote.  It would Surprise the Hell out of Me if she won there, But I am expecting a close race here.  I won’t Prognosticate how close it will be tho.

Indiana: The Polls are In Most cases Looking Kinda Tight here.  No Surprise there. The Survey USA Numbers are looking fairly stable.  2 weeks ago They had Clinton Up 52%-43%, a 9% spread.  Today’s Poll Numbers?  Clinton Up 52%-43%, a 9% Spread.  Consistency has found a Home In Indiana, at least for The Survey USA People.  PPP Has done there first Poll in Indiana and They have Hillary Leading 50%-42%, an 8% spread, despite polling twice as many people as Survey USA.  There is a Howey Gauge Poll out that Has Obama Up by two Points, 47%-45%.

Nationally, The Race is Beginning to Tighten Up as well.  In The Last week, The RCP Average lead for The Democratic Presidential Nomination had Sen. Obama over senator Clinton 50.1% – 39.7%, a 10.4% Difference.  Today that Difference is 47.8% – 42.4% , a 5.4% Difference.  And As i said yesterday, There is for the First Time in a LONG time a Poll out, By Gallup, that has Clinton ahead.  Mind you It is By 1% lead, but a week ago Obama Was up in The Gallup/USA Today poll by 10%.

And For The First Time In I can’t tell you How Long, There is an Important Super Delegate Siding with Senator Hillary Clinton.  North Carolina Governor Mike Easley.  Quoting a Story On this at www.politico.com

“The governor clearly feels she can now pull this out,” said a prominent Clinton supporter. “He’s not doing it to be embarrassed in his own state. Governors don’t endorse for number two.” Easley doesn’t bring the kind of field organization or financial base that Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell gave Clinton’s Pennsylvania campaign, but he does carry a popular name and a symbolic validation of her central argument: That she, better than Obama, connects with the working-class white people who are traditional swing voters. Easley, 58, the lone survivor of a class of Southern Democratic governors elected between 1998 and 2000, has managed to thrive by figuring out how to win reelection in a region where the national Democratic party is typically a burden to statewide elected officials.  END QUOTE.  For the Whole Story, click here —>  http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0408/9939.html

After the Long string Of Highly Publicized Super delegate Announcements for Barack Obama, It is good to see One Go Hillary’s way.  And this One is Big.  A popular Governor In a State with an Upcoming Primary where she will be running into stiff competition from a Candidate with Much more In the Way of Financial resources than she has is a Big help.  Happy to See you Governor, Welcome Aboard! Help Us Pull out the Most Improbable Comeback Victory since Truman Defeated Dewey!

I do Not Know about this One.  It’s a Story About Possible Money Laundering on The Part of Senator Obama when he was a Member of The state senate in 2000. I read Part of it.  Not all Of it, I’ll write about it when I can.  Haven’t put in the Time on it yet, I will Later.  My Promise.  The Only Thing I know about this Guy reporting the story, Andy Martin, Is that he claims to Have predicted There would be a Tony Rezko Trail before anyone. The Link to The Story Follows—> http://www.pr-inside.com/smoking-gun-prompts-andy-martin-to-r559376.htm

Probably a Republican.  That’s Just a guess tho.

That’s It for Politics, Polls, News, and Opinion. Onto Music.

Guitar:  Played for a Fair Bit today, And I have The Electric Locked and Loaded and ready to Rock so I am Far from Done.  I Played my usual warmup stuff.  The Single string Alternate Picking Chromatic Stuff,  and The two string One Octave Major and Minor Scales.  Did some Basic Chord construction stuff.  Pick a Key and a String at random.  and Cycle through the Major scale chord cycle, Ya Know, Major, minor, minor, major, major, minor, diminished, major.  Sometimes I’d play them as 7th Chords, Sometimes Simple Barre chords.  Let’s See….What else…Hmmm. I noodled a Bit, Kept it More or less Major in Nature, and Used a LOT of Double stops.  Like I said, Noodling.  Also did a thing where I stretched a Scale out just to see how many different ways I could play it.  Had one, a simple A minor scale,  where I started On the 17th fret of the 6th string and ended On the 5th fret of the First string. 17th fret 6th string, 14th fret 5th string, 10th fret 4th string,7th fret 3rd string, 5th fret 2nd string, 6th fret 2nd string, 3rd fret 1st string, 5th fret 1st string.  Did it just to see how fast I could do it. It wasn’t exactly speedy, Ill tell ya that. Fun Just noodling.

No real gameplan going into playing tonight. Maybe look at a fretbraord Map and see what Kinda chords I can make up, and see how I can make it sound Musical.  Why the Hell not!  Maybe Play some Heavy Shit.  Ya!  I Think it’s Time to Go METAL THRASHING MAD!!!

That’s It for me.  Jam On!

Today’s Nuggets, from a favorite book of Mine from many moons ago, Titled “A Stranger in a Strange Land”, By Robert A Heinlein, Via Wikiquote:

Now here we have another emotional symbol — wrought with exquisite craftsmanship, but we won’t go into that, yet. Ben, for almost three thousand years or longer, architects have designed buildings with columns shaped as female figures — it got to be such a habit that they did it as casually as a small boy steps on an ant. After all those centuries it took Rodin to see that this was work too heavy for a girl. But he didn’t simply say, ‘Look, you jerks, if you must design this way, make it a brawny male figure.’ No, he showedit… and generalized the symbol. Here is this poor little caryatid who has tried — and failed, fallen under the load. She’s a good girl — look at her face. Serious, unhappy at her failure, but not blaming anyone else, not even the gods… and still trying to shoulder her load, after she’s crumpled under it. But she’s more than good art denouncing some very bad art; she’s a symbol for every woman who has ever tried to shoulder a load that was too heavy for her — over half the female population of this planet, living and dead, I would guess. But not alone women — this symbol is sexless. It means every man and every woman who ever lived who sweated out life in uncomplaining fortitude, whose courage wasn’t even noticed until they crumpled under their loads. It’s courage, Ben, and victory.  Victory in defeat, there is none higher. She didn’t give up, Ben; she’s still trying to lift that stone after it has crushed her. She’s a father going down to a dull office job while cancer is painfully eating away his insides, so as to bring home one more pay check for the kids. She’s a twelve-year-old girl trying to mother her baby brothers and sisters because Mama had to go to Heaven. She’s a switchboard operator sticking to her job while smoke is choking her and the fire is cutting off her escape. She’s all the unsung heroes who couldn’t quite cut it but never quit.

My dear, I used to think I was serving humanity… and I pleasured in the thought. Then I discovered that humanity does not want to be served; on the contrary it resents any attempt to serve it.

Anagram: Assault Theology/Yes, Laugh Last Too

No Bullsh*t I just finished listening to Barack Obama talk about Reverend Jeremiah Wright at a press conference a few minutes ago. He’s not happy with Reverend Wright, but I tell ya, I’m not sure he really gets it.  We don’t care what you think about how offensive he is.  And while he was Offensive, we figured it out.  we didn’t really need your help, Thanks Anyway.  I understand you wanted to come out and make sure that people Understood that.  Good as far as it goes.  It doesn’t go far enough.  He says the relationship between him and the Reverend is strained.  In the public Eye, Anywhere for that matter, And in this day and age, It should no longer exist.  Yes It is good to see that you Understood that the man was grandstanding yesterday.  We have eyes.  We Know.  We didn’t need your help there.   For a transcript of The Senator’s response, Click here—>  http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/29/us/politics/29text-obama.html?pagewanted=all

We see In Wright a man filled with hate and Racism.  We see That You are still a Member of That church, which is not really Liberation Theology, but ASSAULT THEOLOGY.  That’s the Words for it. ASSAULT THEOLOGY.  Christ was about Love and Forgiveness.  Yes I know he had a Moment or two when he was harder than that, The moment with the money changers comes to mind, but for the most part, It was love and peace.  Turn the Other cheek.  That’s not what Wright is about.  Wright wants to put shackles on those who put shackles on his Forebears.  That is wrong. If it was wrong for White people to do it, and want to do it to your people, is it Right to want to do it to others? No.  And it can’t be without rationalizing, hate, and Unthinking Anger.  ASSAULT is the word for it.  An Assault on Goodness and Right mindedness, and Righteousness.  An Assault on all that is and can be Good in this world.  Hate preaching.  Hate speech.  Wright has nothing to do with goodness or godliness, not with what I saw yesterday, or with those “snippets” of sermons.

The problem is that you, Barack Obama, are still a member of that church. And while the Relationship is strained between the two of you, I must make the Presumption that it still exists, until you announce that you’ve broken Ties with him.  THAT’S the part That’s Unacceptable.  You can’t help what he did, or said, either At church or in Public.  What you can do is walk away.  A Complete Break from Reverend Wrong.  Anything less is a slap in the face of Americans everywhere.  This isn’t Just a Spectacle you are Caught in.  America is caught with you.  Unburden yourself and Us with you.  Walk Away.

There are Millions of Americans who have voted for you. Millions who have said Yes to the Change you wish to bring to America.  And this is how you repay them.  Being Unhappy with The Man and saying you don’t believe like he does is not enough.  To say those Grandstanding statements should be Denounced is not enough.  Walk Away.  You just might lose those millions who voted for you In Iowa and Wisconsin and Colorado and all the other places where you won the Primaries, and The General will go in the Other direction.  Towards the Republicans.  Walk away from Wright, break all ties from him, or you face the prospect of Losing the Election because of your reluctance to Walk away from a Racist Grandstanding Self aggrandizing Preacher who is More interested In Himself than in you.

Is his friendship that Important that you’ll throw away all of America, and the Hopes and dreams of Millions because of it? You never said anything about leaving the Church.  You said the Relationship is strained.  Not Over.  Over is the Only solution.  Without it, Senator Urkel, You Are Toast.

And he said that he hasn’t heard the Aids comment, that America had created aids to kill the Black man.  Hell, I heard it.  Most everyone I know has heard it.  He running for president, Shouldn’t he have his finger on the Pulse of the Nation? Shouldn’t he know when his Own Pastor Talks Crap if everyone else does? does he not own a Cell phone? A TV? A Radio?  I think he’s Lying here.  He knew.  He had to.  He’s closer to it, and to the Church it was spoken in and the man who said it than just about anyone.  He’s Full of Shit.

A blurb from a Story about Reverend Wright, from last month:  “Obama’s most famous celebrity backer, Oprah Winfrey began attending Wright’s church in 1984. Last year, Newsmax magazine reported that Winfrey abruptly stopped attending years ago, and suggested that she did so to distance herself from Wright’s inflammatory rhetoric. She soon found herself a target of Wright, who excoriated her for having broken with “traditional faith.”   END QUOTE.  For the Entire Story, click here—>   http://www.newsmax.com/kessler/Obama_hate_America_sermon/2008/03/16/80870.html

Now if Oprah Knew about Wright’s Horse crap, from YEARS AGO, how is it that he didn’t?  I am telling you the Man is Full of Shit.  In a way that Hillary and McCain could Not Possibly Touch.  He is Light years ahead of the other Candidates in that regard.  He is Playing us all for Fools.  He Thinks we Buy this Crap.  He is still a Member of The ASSAULT THEOLOGY Church.

The Man is Pitiful.  He may be the Next President of The United States, But he is still a pitiful and useless creature.  America, You can do better then this.

A Vote for Hillary is a Vote against Racism.  A Vote for Obama is a Vote for Hate.

Snowbird       I’m going to Touch On The Reverend Wright Statements in front of The National Press Club.  I am Certain That there are about 3,968,285,912 different Places you can look on-line for Stories and Opinions On His Words and Views, for what it’s worth here’s Mine.

The man Made a few statements That caught My ear.  I watched about a Half hour of The Post speech questions and The man Just hit me as a Carnie Barker Type, or maybe Someone Trying to sell his views of the world and trying his best to make a profit.  He says That the attacks On Him and Obama  after his speeches…err, Sermons about 9/11 and The odd rants are Attacks On The Black Church.  Bullshit.  He said that he read a Book by some guy about Hiv and That is where he got the Idea that America created aids to kill the Black Man.  This Numbnuts believes everything he reads.  He did make a  case for his Conspiracy theory about The aids thing, Saying that Since America Sold Chemical Agents to Iraq, and Then Protested When they were used, This, of Course means that America Could have Made aids to Poison and Kill it’s own people.   Wow.  That’s amazing.  Because America Sold Weapons and then decried their use, somehow we now want to kill off our Own people.  Wow.  That’s amazing.  Amazing Bullshit.

I found a Spot where Video of The Press club event is posted.  To watch Click here—> http://mypetjawa.mu.nu/archives/192499.php

A quote from An opinion piece Here: The moderator of the event at the Press Club today asked the following question, “Jesus said, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the father but through me.’ Do you believe this? And do you think Islam is a way to salvation?”

“Rev.” Wright answered by saying, “Jesus also said, ‘Other sheep have I who are not of this fold.’” END QUOTE.  For the whole Piece click here–> http://www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_126801.asp

A Christian saying that Islam is a Way to salvation, Open minded yet Disconcerting.  I don’t think That Islam is Evil, But there are enough of it’s practitioners who are, or seem to me to be Evil , that Saying it can be a path to Salvation seems Incongruous with the reality that that religion represents in it more Fundamentalist form. Another Thought, isn’t it the Core of Christianity that “Christ” is the Way, the Truth and the Light? I remember Reading that somewhere…. The Bible.  That man Just took a Shotgun out and Blasted a hole in The beliefs That are at the Core of Christianity.

And he calls Himself a Christian.  My ass.

       Onto Other Things.  Polls.

This Time rather then focusing On Primaries, I’m gonna Look at the General Election Polling Numbers.  There is One poll In particular I am going to Focus On, I heard it spoken about On XM channel 130 “Potus” and I thought I’d give it a Look and see what was Up.  It was a Little Surprising to Find out that Despite the Fact That Democrats Liked Sen. Obama More then Hillary Clinton Better when Going head to head In a Local Primary, Senator Clinton won Handily in the Poll Over Sen. McCain, While Barack Obama’s Numbers were Close enough to be a Statistical Dead heat.  With a Margin of Error of 3.1 Percent, Hillary Beat John McCain by 9 Points, while Barack Obama only won by 2.

Wow.  People are strange.  They’d Vote for Barack In the Primaries, But at least In part, Abandon him in The General.  And Hillary would lose To Barack But Handily Beat McCain.  I find That weird.  And looking at the Fine print in this I see That The largest Percentage Of voters  By region in this AP-Ipsos Poll are from the South.  36% from the south with 22 percent from the Midwest and West, and only 20% from The Northeast.  They pulled the Largest Number of those polled from Obama’s Stronghold, The South, and He Comes out Not doing as well as Hillary In The General.  Ouch.  Senator Obama, where are your people, your strong Loud Backers?  Those Kids who scream your name at your Pep rallies? I guess they just like being around you when your On tv.  When the Chips are Down, They will, apparently Abandon you.  Sucks for you.

A Similar Gallup Poll shows Obama Tied with McCain at 45%, and Hillary Up by 3% On McCain.  for the whole story Click here —> http://www.gallup.com/poll/106855/Gallup-Daily-Race-Still-Close-Obama-47-Clinton-46.aspx

This Horserace is Far from Over, But Hillary seems to Be Coming On a lot stronger here at the End, and Sen. Obama seems to be losing a Little bit of steam.  That doesn’t mean he won’t win the Nomination, What it means, at least to this Observer, is that his Climb will be More Uphill for him than It has been since he Made Major Headlines In Iowa over three Months Ago. And That Hillary Now has About the best chance she has had since, well, Since the Beginning of This campaign.  You have to be as strong at the End as you were at the Beginning to Finish well, and Obama Looks to be Faltering Just a bit here.

That last bit is surprising to me.  For all that I am a Hillary Supporter, I actually Thought she was Done a While ago, But she persevered and came back and Showed the Fight and The Strength of a Trained Professional who knows what It takes to win, while Sen. Obama has shown that he doesn’t really have the Horses to Finish the way he should have.  He had this Thing wrapped Up and he gave it away.  By being weak.  By uttering Crap about God and Guns, by Not backing away from Jeremiah Wright’s Inflammatory Delusional Horse Manure.  By going Negative, when his whole campaign has been about Positive.  By preaching Change but Not saying what he will change.  His whole Gameplan is flawed, and It is finally starting to show. Pity The Democrats if He Wins The Nomination.

Hillary is a better, more well rounded, Candidate.  She can carry The nation, he can’t.  This nation is Just Too conservative for Him to Win.  She’ll get votes he won’t and can’t because she is viewed as less Liberal Then senator Obama, despite their nearly Identical Voting records.

That’s It for Politics, News, and Opinion.  Onto Music.

Of which there isn’t very Much.  I hardly Got to play at all at work,  call it 15 minutes, and I was Lucky to get that in.  I played a few Minutes On the Staten Island Ferry, but Only a few, and I wasn’t good either Time.  I was Rushed, Tired and Just plain off.  I am about to Grab The electric and Get the Headphones and Hit the Line 6 Tone port.  Hopefully I will have something More tonight than I had earlier.  I am a little more rested and I am not going to be rushed here, so it should be easier and better.

That’s It for Me.  Go Jam!

Today’s Nuggets: The difference between the right word and the almost right word is really a large matter — it’s the difference between a lightning bug and the lightning.   Mark Twain

By the age of six the average child will have completed the basic American education. … From television, the child will have learned how to pick a lock, commit a fairly elaborate bank holdup, prevent wetness all day long, get the laundry twice as white, and kill people with a variety of sophisticated armaments.  Russell Baker

The major problem — one of the major problems, for there are several — one of the many major problems with governing people is that of whom you get to do it; or rather of who manages to get people to let them do it to them.  To summarize: it is a well-known fact that those people who most want to rule people are, ipso facto, those least suited to do it. To summarize the summary: anyone who is capable of getting themselves made President should on no account be allowed to do the job. To summarize the summary of the summary: people are a problem.    Douglas Adams

Kitten       Just read a story On www.Politico.com about Obama and His Age Problem.  The Problem being that He just doesn’t reach The Older voters.  He gets Younger Voters In Droves But has repeatedly lost the Older Population, In some segments of the Population by as much as a 3 to 1 Margin.

Quoting the Story: “In many respects, age is proving perhaps the most immutable fault line of the Democratic race. Older, college-educated voters consistently favor Clinton, though by small margins. Obama’s weakness is largely among seniors without college degrees, whom Clinton wins 3-to-1.

Even in Wisconsin, where the white working class moved to Obama, he lost whites age 60 and older by 9 percentage points.

These voters constitute a quarter to a third of Democrats in nominating contests — where after Iowa, the youth vote largely ranged from 12 to 16 percent of voters.

In Pennsylvania and Ohio, Clinton won a stunning seven in ten white voters age 60 and older primarily because the gender gap diminishes to Clinton’s favor with older voters.”  END QUOTE.  for the whole story Click here—>
