Jeremiah Wright says that his character is being assassinated in the public sphere. Quoting the CNN Report: ”It is an indictment on Dr. Wright’s ministerial legacy to present his global ministry within a 15- or 30-second sound bite,” the Rev. Otis Moss III, the current pastor of the church said in the statement.
“The African American Church was born out of the crucible of slavery and the legacy of prophetic African American preachers since slavery has been and continues to heal broken marginalized victims of social and economic injustices,” Moss also said. “This is an attack on the legacy of the African American Church which led and continues to lead the fight for human rights in America and around the world.”
In the same statement, the Rev. John H. Thomas, the general minister and president of the United Church of Christ — the denomination to which Wright’s church belongs — said the media was creating a “caricature” of his congregation. End Quote.
Lets start at the beginning of the statement and work from there. Yes, it is an indictment of his Ministerial legacy. Many a man nowadays has been Indicted in the Public eye for the Use of Inflammatory and racist language. Do not think that just because you are an African American you can escape being scrutinized for racism. Those days are over. This is a New Day. White people should not ever say or do anything racist. Neither should black people. ANYONE who does it should have their feet held to the Fire. ANYONE. To hold one group to one standard and a second group, regardless of history, to another, is improper morally and ethically. I understand that the African American community has been hard pressed by racism for hundreds of years. It does not justify racism or the use of racist language. End of Statement.
The Church you belong to, all African American churches for that matter, may have been born of pain and suffering, and may do many good things, But that does not justify racism or hate in any way shape or form. This is NOT an attack on the Legacy of the African American church. It is an Attack On the attempt to legitimize racism.
As far as the Media creating a caricature of your church, you may be right. That would be wrong. We should not hold every member of a Congregation responsible for the Racist views of One of its Pastors. Just the Ones that Jumped up and down and Yelled Hallelujah! at all his racist banter. There is absolutely nothing wrong with holding African Americans to a High standard where hate speech is concerned. The same standard that EVERY American is, and should, be held to.
Lemme tell ya this. I just finished re-watching the speech in question. I come away from this feeling sad for the man more then anything. He doesn’t even realize how hate filled his speech is. How Ugly and Hurtful his speech is. Was it Me that passed you by in a cab and didn’t let you in? Am I the “Rich White Man” who oppresses you? No. Nor was it my people. I don’t have a People. I have a Family. YOU have a people. Scratch that. I DO Have a People. I have a RACE. The HUMAN Race. Every time you cut it down further than that to protect your narrow viewpoint of the world you weaken and cheapen us all.
Hillary fits the Mold he says. What Mold? There is No Mold. There is simply people trying their best to make the world a better place. Yes there are a lot of white people who are in positions of power in this country. But there are a Lot of Black people too, and That number is increasing, as well it should. There are a Great many good African Americans out there who are doing a great deal of good for the world at large. Don’t make it sound like everyone is holding you down. That would be false. Patently false.
Hillary ain’t never been called a Ni**er, he says. So what, neither have I. Does that mean that my life, or Hers, is instantly better and easier than yours? No. Does that mean that I haven’t had to travel down a Long hard road to get what little I have in this world, or that She got what she got the easy way? No. Does that mean that Because of that That I will live a Life of Luxury and ease, or that She got everything handed to her on a silver platter? No! There are people in all walks of life who have it tough. Skin color be damned. Life is Tough. Life is Hard. It’s SUPPOSED to be. Don’t think because you had a hard road that you’re the only one. Or that Your people are the Only ones who have suffered, or have suffered the Most. Everyone suffers. You should give thanks to God that you have survived to see the good days you have seen, and thank him for giving you the strength to get through all the bad times.
I get that African Americans have had an Incredibly hard path to today, and that the path to a better Tomorrow is not easy. It’s not easy for anyone. Be strong. Be smart. But don’t sit there and judge people and tell them that your life is hard, like your life is the only one that’s hard. It gets better if you let it. If I could help everyone on earth live better and be better and make their lives easier I would, Jeremiah Wright Included. I wish him, you, loyal reader, and everyone a happy life filled with all the good things that they want and need.

Guitar: For the first time in along time, I did not bring my guitar to work. And I didn’t play all that much at home, either. I didn’t do ANY exercises whatsoever. Played a few songs, played a few riffs. That’s about it. What I am doing now is going through the Guitar Grimoire and checking scales in their with The reverse scales engine in www.All-guitar-chords.com and I am seeing discrepancies, and I don’t like it. No worries tho. Example. In the book I see the Eb Lydian Dominant scale. No Eb tho. Kinda weird. Put the Notes in question In the Reverse scale engine and I get C Lydian Augmented and G#Diminished Whole tone among others, but No Eb or Lydian Dominant whatsoever. Not surprised tho. Like I said, No Eb. Silly book. The Notes in the scale in question are as follows. G#, A, B, C, D, E, F#.
Another one I was looking at that just didn’t right, or looked a bit funny is the Ab Composite II. Never heard of it, so maybe it’s just because it looks a little funny. Lemme throw this one at ya. Ab, A, C, D, D#, E, G. Haven’t tried it yet. I’m gonna Tho. Looks weird and funny and strange. Right up My Alley! On AGC It read as a Blues variation. Don’t care what it’s called. Looks good to me.
