The Spirit of ‘76  HAPPY NEW YEAR!  Now that that crap’s out of the way…. :-)

3.45 Miles in 26:23.61   7:39.01 m/m pace  Nice run today.  First run of the year should be a good one, I think, and this one was good.  Didn’t think I’d have it in me to run a sub 7:40 today.  I said yesterday that I would be happy with an 8:15, You can Imagine How Pleased I am with a Time 30 seconds per mile faster than that!  The Left Leg is a Little sore now, but it was fine during the run , and afterwards as well, It only started to get sore recently, as in the last 2 hours or so.  Hammies are sore now, but I was fine after the run, and should be ok to run tomorrow.  The weather was actually nice for January first in NYC.  44 Degrees, about the same as it was last new years day, but less windy then last year.  Here’s To Running In the New Year.    Workout was very light but good.   Any workout is a good workout, but i went light in order to avoid Injury due to overexertion.  31 minutes worth of shadowboxing/Deep Knee Bends, done the way I usually do, but i will explain anyway.  I do the deep knee bend for speed but I try to get as deep into the bend as is possible, and when I get Near the Top of the Movement I throw a (usually) two punch combo, left right. or right left, cross/jab, hook/uppercut, whatever the combo.  I usually go at about a rate of  38 to 42 DKB’s per minute,  I have hit 45 a minute but that’s a pretty damned shallow DKB there.  Oh yeah, I also did a few sets of crunches, and two sets of lateral bridges.  34:36.64 total sweat time there.  Both ends of the sweat were light and short, but of necessity.  They were both good.  Kept good form, didn’t push too hard while breaking a good sweat.  Nice.

Played guitar a fair bit today.  I hit the Major and Minor and Pentatonic Scales in all keys, as usual.  I did more arpeggio work today than yesterday, and I will be doing more when I finish here.  I didn’t do any modal work yet, That’s happening when I am done here as well.  Worked some open string chord exercises, and some odd chord fingerings, something which I do a fair bit, but usually put into a series of chords and call it a progression.  Nothing In order here, but and example would be a  G major chord to a c sus2 but with the third string open on both.  The g Major has both the 6th and first string are d’s, 10th fret, and the b on the 12th fret of the second string.  Move the fingers in that position up two frets to make the c sus2.  I do move the fingers around on this one as well, switching the fingers on the chords in question in a vriety of ways, altering the chords.  And It Sounds pretty, which is the point on that one. sounds nice.

Resolutions:  To Save Money so That My Wife and I, and at some point in the future my child, will be able to live well and comfortably.  I always have seemed to have some kind of money problems, so I’m going to try to have more fiscal discipline this year.

To run Smarter, Longer, and Better, And to stay healthy and Injury free as long as possible.

To play guitar as much and as well as I can, and to learn as much as possible musically, and to record and write songs as often as possible, with the hopes of putting something out that people can buy and download.

To Eat more intelligently and healthily.

One Thing I Think The America needs to Resolve to do this year:  Not To send another mindless idiot to the Oval office.

One Thing I Think The World needs to resolve to do this year:  Be More environmentally friendly.  Yes I Know your already there, but Once we get a new president, well join in.  The one we have now is an idiot and cant spell environmental or friendly, and since he can’t spell it, he doesn’t like it, and what he doesn’t like he declares war on.  And even tho I never voted for him, i feel the need to say something about it. and that something is:   We apologize for the Inconvience.  I Think even the idiots who voted for him twice (Morons) realize what a Putz he is. The like won’t happen again for the forseeable future.  We Hope.  :-)

Vote Democrat in 08, Save The World.

That’s It all.  Gonna go play more guitar.  Jam on.

Today’s Nuggets from foundingfathers.info:  A popular Government, without popular information, or the means of acquiring it, is but a Prologue to a Farce or a Tragedy; or, perhaps both. Knowledge will forever govern ignorance: And a people who mean to be their own Governors, must arm themselves with the power which knowledge gives.    James Madison

History affords us many instances of the ruin of states, by the prosecution of measures ill suited to the temper and genius of their people. The ordaining of laws in favor of one part of the nation, to the prejudice and oppression of another, is certainly the most erroneous and mistaken policy. An equal dispensation of protection, rights, privileges, and advantages, is what every part is entitled to, and ought to enjoy… These measures never fail to create great and violent jealousies and animosities between the people favored and the people oppressed; whence a total separation of affections, interests, political obligations, and all manner of connections, by which the whole state is weakened.   Benjamin Franklin
